Help me understand Herman Cain, please

Besides $$$$$, why would any self-respecting African-American be a Republican ? I don't get it.

other than he is a regular fill-in for Neal Boortz on right wing talk radio. And yes, he's very conservative, and right wing.

People are people, no matter what their color

In Letter from a Birmingham Jail, Martin Luther King Jr. points out that members of his race have different views on civil rights. King is a real hero of mine because he was able to get so many people to join his non-violent group. One important point: King pointed out that non-violence is definitely not the same thing as passivity; King brought about real change.

A Republican is a Liberal who was mugged.

When a person draws their first salary at 75,000 annually,
they become Republican.

Cain as a businessman probably saw benefits financially
and socially in being a Republican. There are some
Black Republicans. I must admit, most likely Moderate
Republicans. Surprise with Cain--Hard Core Conservative.

He is not going anywhere in this Race.

One thing they feel is shame. They are ashamed of who they are, and they feel that they will be more embraced as a Republican. While I may understand the conservatism, especially on the social side, I cannot understand aligning oneself with the Republican Party on any other grounds except for shame.
