A Republican just said to me that he didn't feel safe... |

....with Obama as President because "Obama only killed bin Laden to get re-elected". This statement is wrong on so many levels...I don't even know where to begin.
You can't fix stupid.
Edited to add quotes to dumbass Republican's comment.

he was so grateful Bush was in the WH on 9/11 and I should be too. You're right. You can't even begin to address this. It makes no sense.

25. My response was something along the lines of, "I have no idea |
|
Edited on Fri May-06-11 02:10 PM by LibDemAlways
what you are talking about. The man ignored important warnings and then sat and continued to read a kid's book when told the nation was under attack. Then he proceeded to fly around the country like a big chicken. And when he returned to the WH he and the missus admitted to having a chuckle that night over what a crazy day it had been." I further told him to go to the PNAC website and read about "the new Pearl Harbor" advocated by the chimp's neocon buddies.
That shut him up.

29. 9/11 was the day I stopped thinking 1984 was the stupidest book ever written. |
|
I couldn't imagine people could forget everything just to support their side.
And the weird thing is, many really, actually did. I responded as I suggested to everyone who said it to me, and every single one of them replied, "you're right; I completely forgot about that."

9. Dubya walked right by him in Tora Bora... |
|
...and claimed he didn't care where he was in 2002.
I guess it was the image of Duhbya trotting out on the aircraft carrier in the flight suit with his junk practically hanging out, and a "Mission Accomplished" sign in the background after invading and occupying the wrong country (which had nothing to do with 9/11) that made them feel safe.
Pfft.
Chronic. Stupid.

That's right.
So how do we combat it?
How do we protect ourselves from it?
You can't reason with these people so how do we defeat them?

...for one thing.
For another, I'm pretty sure Obama didn't just arbitrarily choose this mission (which was a prime objective for the last two administrations as well even if not for bu$hit himself) the same way he chooses what speech to recite or what suit to wear - just to get re-elected.

17. Yes the guy went on with a terrified missive about how afraid |
|
he was about 'these extremists' and how dangerous they are.
Hell, we have extremists in the US who are just as dangerous: skinheads, militia groups, etc. The fact is no President can 'make you feel safe' - if you're driven by fear. No matter who they are. No matter what they do.
Further, if bin Laden was planning an "anniversary" strike on the rail system on the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Obama just may have thwarted that attack by nailing bin Laden. But that doesn't register in the pea-brain of a Republican, somehow.

15. So, for the free market to work, it's OK to get good results through selfish motives |
|
But that doesn't work in this case?
Jackass doesn't even understand his own philosophy.
Clearly, his claim is false. But even if we accepted that it was true, the GOPer that believes in the free market should see no problem with Obama producing a good social result through purely selfish motivations. That's the whole premise of the Republican ideology, after all.
