Guy nabbed @ NYC POTUS motorcade yesterday a Bklyn hipster dbag
Suspicious Brooklyn man Matthew Duhaime tackled by NYPD near President Obama's visit to Ground Zero
New York Daily News
Updated: Friday, May 6th 2011, 11:49 AM

Witnesses said cops tossed Duhaime, a musician who just moved to Brooklyn from Chicago, to the sidewalk. Another officer pointed a gun at him.

Duhaime said he didn't think anyone would take him seriously. "I was making jokes to get my bike through the crowd," he told the Daily News. "Everyone was laughing."

Police released Duhaime - who plays guitar and sings for a band called Moxie Motive - 20 minutes after the incident. A water bottle filled with Coors Light was found in his backpack.

Bonus points for additional "delivery guy on bike" annoyance points!

Was the "hipster" after the takedown?

Was he born that stupid, or did he just achieve it?

16. Could someone explain to me why "hipsters" in general (not this one guy) are a problem with anyone?
Edited on Fri May-06-11 01:28 PM by Dr Fate
Other than just a general problem with middle class white kids?

I'm 38, I live in the mission disctrict of SF, possibly the "Hipster" capital of the world...

Guys & gals b/t the ages of 18-30 who dress up like their favorite musicians, go to bars, collect records, look for economical ways to have fun & pass time, go to thrift stores to buy recycled clothes, ride bikes, work at grocery stores etc.

Who are they hurting and why do people get so annoyed by them?

Jealous of youth having a good time, perhaps?

I see them all over and they just seem like regular kids who basically act they way we all did at that age. Out of all the young people in the hood I've met, if they have any politics at all, they are Liberals.

I kinda like 'em.

23. More or less, just like every generation b/f them.
Edited on Fri May-06-11 02:47 PM by Dr Fate
What are they supposed to be effective at where kids in the early 2000's, 90's, 80's and 70's were more "effective"?

Seems like every decade is trend oriented- just look at the 50's teens or hippies from the 60's and any generation beyond that.

Started an OP on it if you are interested:

22. People get mad when someone is cooler than they are, and knows it.
Another thing, I'll bet these so-called "hipsters" are more progressive than just about any other demographic. That is, if you can define what a hipster is.

30. Probably the irony seeping through their pores.
They tend to enjoy things for ironic reasons, not sensible or pragmatic ones (because it's cool on a meta level or some bullshit). And for a group that thinks they're cool and edgy, they sure have a homogeneous style to them.
