Blast from the past: Monica Goodling Reprimanded
Remember the US Attorney firing scandal?

Ryan J. Reilly | May 6, 2011, 2:35PM

Monica Goodling, a key figure in the politicization of the Justice Department during the Bush administration, has received a public reprimand from the Virginia State Bar, Virginia Lawyers Weekly reports.

The state bar found that Goodling committed "a criminal or deliberately wrongful act" that reflected poorly on her "honesty, trustworthiness or fitness to practice law," the publication reports. The decision was reached in March but was made public Thursday.

Goodling, a former opposition researcher for the Republican National Committee and graduate of Regent University School of Law, arrived at the Justice Department at the start of the Bush administration. Former colleagues said she believed that part of her job was to bring people with conservative and Christian values to DOJ. She admitted to "crossing the line" by running afoul of civil service rules governing hiring decisions.

Guess this is as good as it'll get for this dishonest woman. She's no longer practicing law, but am sure she's making a ton of money doing market research in Arlington, Va.

1. Not necessarily. She's going to be under a watchful eye--
and attorneys love nothing better than seeing adversaries in the back of the State Bar journal (which is where they list disciplinary actions).

I'm NOT exaggerating; that's the first thing attorneys do--to a ONE (that I've worked with). A lotta good LW attorneys are going to watch her with a VERY close eye hoping for a slip-up.

6. It's almost comical. "Oh, she had it coming!" "Oh, I KNEW it!"
"Did I tell you what that schmuck DID?" "You shoulda seen the look on the judge's face when he ..."

OMG--the overworked support staff just sits back and giggles (I'm a paralegal).

3. I have a theory about this ....
We all know that some uber Christian nuts will kill an abortion doctor.

But what about the ones that won't kill? What lines would they cross?

Would they lie, and work to steal elections for conservative judges? Seeing themselves as "saving babies" in the process?

I think yes. I think there is an entire army of right wing GOP nuts who would never kill an abortion doctor, but they would lie, cheat or steal to get a right wing Christian elected.

And I think that is exactly what we have here, and with the woman in the recent WI elections.

5. I think so, too.
They believing the end justifies the means.

For me, the sense of right & wrong set in. I suppose that's the difference between those with a conscience, & those who can set theirs aside.
