4. My patriotism comes from the love I have of for my country
Edited on Fri May-06-11 05:33 PM by randr
Encompassing all the victories and most importantly the freedom to stand up and disagree with and condemn things we have failed at.
I am not totally happy with the celebration and I am fearful of the repercussions we may find for an act of vengeance. By his actions, I think Obama has shown the world at large that we will not allow terrorism to define us.

12. By that, my answer to your original question is no. Some people who are not patriotic Americans are
celebrating OBL's death too.

3. ugh. what a dumb argument. people can be patriotic in different ways
this argument reminds me of bush's first term in office when anything he didnt like was deemed unpatriotic.

shameful

14. there's always
The patriotism as a refuge. I never could quite trust anyone who insisted that patriotism required you to blindfold yourself with the flag.

5. IS it patriotic to celebrate illegal acts by your government? Or is it patriotic to question them?
And who the hell are the people who are proud of this extra legal act?

The most powerful, militarily built-up nation on earth manages to kill ONE FUCKING GUY after a decade.

Yeah, can't tell you how proud that makes me.

11. We're all Patriots even the loonies that believe Bush deserves all the credit
We are all patriots some are absolute when it comes to the moral ground, some see shades of gray and are flexible about morality given the circumstance, some are just really really happy that the boogie man is dead, and some are just plain loony and stupid. But one thing I believe we all love our country so we are all patriots.

13. Mostly, Sir, It is Republicans 'Fessing Up To the fact they Are Traitors And Enemies Of the U.S.
Certainly no one who identifies with the people of the country will spend much time talking this action down, or quibbling over niceties concerning it....

15. Except for people who manage to hang onto their frontal lobes
when the invitation to join the mob is extended as the only right position.

It's entirely possible to identify with our people and to be analytical about this action.

16. Fair Enough, Ma'am, But Even If one Does Not Share A Popular Mood, One Is Not Required To Oppose It
"A universal feeling, whether well or ill-founded, cannot be safely disregarded."

People are right to feel a lift of morale from this, and justifies in that feeling.
