What will Obama spend the political capital on that he earned by getting OBL?
We are told that Obama is a master poltician, a chess player, who knows exactly how much he can afford politically and makes tough choices with his limited political capital.

One would think that his pockets are pretty damn full right now. I wonder what it will be invested in.

1. He won't spend it
and it will evaporate eventually.

10. An advantage in chess does not "evaporate".
Real chess games are much longer than today's 24/7 news cycle.

14. Ah, good .. some one who knows some chess.
To win a chess championship, you really only need to win ONE game. If you DRAW the rest, you win.

By killing OBL, Obama has won the "Dems are weak" game.

He is also winning the "economy" game.

He is winning the "who can be President game".

The GOP is not winning ANY game. They have nothing. And killing OBL crushes them because "strong military leader" is supposed to be there bread and butter ... good luck to them trying to claim that they would have done better. Can't happen.

No evaporation. Killing OBL will remain large through the next elections and well beyond.

4. The M.O.for the O man is to play the rope-a-dope
He makes and initial entry and then steps back for a looooong time. Frustrating to many. Then he ends it.

That was what he did in both the 08 campaign against Hillary and in the Health Care "debate". He lets people spin themselves into a corner and then he nicely waves at them as he walks by to accept the win.

5. There is none.
His poll bounce is on the order of 6%, there's no change in the composition of Congress, and the election is still a year and a half away.

You might as well ask whether he will use his super-powers for good or evil.

8. In advanced chess, this is usually a time for a "quiet move".
Folks who don't actually play much advanced chess won't know what that means.

It means that many times, when you gain an advantage in chess, you do not RACE to exploit it, instead, you solidify the advantage with "small" or "quiet" moves.

GW Bush gave us all a great example of how one BLOWS political capitol while not understanding what a "quiet move" is.

13. Remember when everyone was having conniptions
because they thought that Obama was going to cut Medicare and SS. Well, guess what, so did the Republicans. Now the Republicans are in big trouble for playing (overplaying) their hand. Obama is a smart dude.

15. Exactly
There are many examples of high end chess games in which one player over reaches. They push a small advantage past where it works, and they usually lose for doing so.

When this happens, it was usually a desperate move.

11. He should spend it squashing the right wing like a bug
He would do the nation a big favor if he totally destroyed their credibility and in particular their media/propaganda efforts.

It would have a lasting benefit and would clear the political stage for progress on any number of fronts.

I'm not sure he has the political capital needed to accomplish this, but he sure has more than any Democrat has had since the time of JFK.
