Right here in uber conservative La, the lady who cut my hair today said when I
asked her.... "So, what do you think of all what's going on in the world today, you know they finally killed that evil man".... Without skipping a beat she said "I never like to rejoice in another person's shortcomings."

She will always cut my hair from now on. I will wait for her if need be, she has a proper spirit. She represents what our national soul should feel even when it doesn't. If much of the oil in the world was in Alaska I'm just about sure we would have just raided an igloo and killed a nationalistic Inuit Indian... cuz we probably would have done things to the Inuit that put a burr under their saddle too.

I repeat, she said "I never like to rejoice in another person's shortcomings." I now have more hope for the human race than I did when watching the homicide parties at various places on the telly. For now I only wish that there were never reasons for Osama and his brood to take up arms, for now I wish that killing wasn't the answer, but it is and I hate it with all my heart and soul.

4. Using oil policy as an excuse for Osama, 'homocide' parties.
It's just tired schtick.

6. Tonight at mass...
...the priest spoke of how Mother's Day was originally conceived as an observation of peace and of healing following the carnage of the American Civil War. And he of necessity mentioned the death of Osama bin Laden that, although OBL had been wicked, we must not rejoice in a death but be harbingers of peace.

It has been many years since I've heard anyone mention the original meaning of Mother's Day, and I had been growing irritated at the gooily sentimental observations of in the media. So the homily was a welcome change of perspective.

11. How wonderful! I posted that Proclamation by Julia Ward Howe today, and also sent it to
a Catholic friend of mine who detests the "Hallmark holiday", as she calls it.

Please tell your priest I really appreciate him doing this!

9. I hope people who work with the public
realize that when someone asks them, "What do you think of everything that's going on in the world?" it might not be someone just making conversation.

They could be getting set up by someone who's judging their "moral fitness".

Making sure these people are good enough to cut their hair, sell them shoes, fix their cars, etc.

Next thing I expect to hear about is someone saying they donate blood regularly but don't want it going to someone who isn't good enough to get it.

10. there are....
....millions of 'good' people everywhere, going about their business, quietly living their lives....

....every group or individual with a political axe to grind in this country has a stake in keeping these 'good' people from coalescing around a 'good' people political agenda....

....the meek shall inherit the earth but slime dominates Washington and politics....

15. Sorry, Hystery Diagnosis, I'm confused, too. What did she mean by "shortcomings" &
about whom did she use that word? It wasn't a shortcoming of Obama's to rid the world of a slithering terrorist. It could hardly describe the cowardly ambush & violent massacre of 9/11.

I would have loved to have asked her what she meant by "discussing other people's shortcomings.

20. Killing is killing is killing is killing......
And it's never right. We should all aspire for that thinner air, even and especially when we are stuck down at the bottom, celebrating the death of another human being, no matter how "evil" he seems to us. I am sure that Osama BL believed as strongly in his side of things as we do in ours. The pity is that he resorted to killing other human beings in order to further his cause. But, how can we say that we are any less evil, when we do the same thing in pursuit of ours?

Lots of right-wingers don't want to celebrate because Obama deserves credit.

19. in RL i have not heard one person "celebrate" his death. even the kids at boys schools. everyone
though, has approved of obamas decision with the mission.

i too see not reason for celebration. it doesnt mean i dont think obama did the right thing.
