More Than Half of GOP Voters Still Doubt Obama Born in U.S
Slightly more than half of Republicans still doubt whether President Obama was born in the United States, according to new poll numbers out Tuesday.

Thirty-four percent of those GOP voters surveyed last week by Democratic polling firm Public Policy Polling said that they believe Obama was not born on domestic soil. Another 18 percent said they were unsure if he was.

Those numbers are a far cry from the percent who questioned where Obama was born before the White House released his long-form birth certificate last month.

Still, when those who answered the question, “Do you think Barack Obama was born in the United States?” with either a “No” or a “Not Sure” are taken together they represent more than half of those surveyed and, obviously, make up a formidable bloc of primary voters that can’t be discounted in a wide-open GOP primary contest.

And willfull ignorance is what distinguishes rethuglicans from normal people.

10. Yeah, it's like "push polling in reverse."
They think if they falsely tell the pollster they believe something bad about Obama is true and enough other Obama haters do the same, then the large poll numbers will convince others that it must be true.

15. Exactly what I was going to post.
At this point, they want to believe a lie, so it is true in their mind. No amount of documentation will convince them otherwise. Sad to be them, actually.

8. I think the critical thing we all need to take away from
this is that it shows how effective they are at getting their message across. IMHO this whole thing stems from the fact that THEIR candidate was the one who wasn't born in the US, and they'd learned that a good offense is the best defense. Remember that hey used this to great effect with attacking our war hero Kerry in order to deflect attention from Commander AWOL's (and Deadeye Dick's) sorry wartime records.

If we were half as unified in getting our message across, we'd be unbeatable. It still chaps me just how successful they have been in promoting the opposite of the truth in so many situations.
