Mose Jefferson Dead At 68

NEW ORLEANS -- Mose Jefferson, the influential businessman who hailed from one of New Orleans' most powerful political families, has died at a North Carolina hospice Thursday at the age of 68.

Family members told WDSU Jefferson was moved from a federal prison to the facility recently as his health declined. He had been suffering from advanced cancer.

Funeral arrangements were set for May 21 in Jefferson's hometown of Lake Providence, La.
