Interesting how the Big Oil Execs can sit in a hearing and point a gun
at the American people and threaten to rob them regardless of whether there are subsidies or not and not bat an eye. Interesting too is the ending lne of story about it on ABC World News this morning was to the effect that it is unlikely that congress would vote for removal of subsidies for Big Oil.

2. They understand.
That any taxes against them must originate in the House and they know that is not going to happen so long as Repubs are in charge. Notice how prices started up when the Repubs won the House back.

4. This is what years and decades of bipartisan funding of politicians will buy you
Immunity. Immunity from laws, taxes, immunity from all sorts of pesky things like that.

5. The sick part of it is how the people hired by the people defend the oil companies
When the congressmen sit there and defend the oil companies while the people they are paid to represent are feeling the pain is just criminal.

7. That's Why They're Paid The Big Bucks...
Any of those execs who dared to say anything outside of the oil company party line would endanger their nice seven and eight figure pay checks. I'd bet that many would take the abuse and not give a rat's ass if they were being "compensated" with more in a year than most could earn in a lifetime. Kinda like the big money athlete...paid to get beat up...and they did the job well yesterday since after all the hang-wringing and posturing the oil companies will keep their exepmtions and we'll continue to pay through the ass at the pump.

8. So a good strategy in 2012 would be to
Edited on Fri May-13-11 06:20 AM by Skidmore
target Big Oil legislators AND the corporations themselves. Campaign against both.

9. You Mean 2012?
It's ok...I'm lacking coffee.

The Democrats have more issues to run on than they can handle. Pick one...the banksters, killing medicare, racism, sexism and outright corruption. If the Democrats can't come up with themes to win next year then they only have themselves to blame. It'd be nice for once in my long lifetime to see the Democrats win from strength not from "not being the other guy".

Cheers...
