Half of this is to make sure Obama doesn't get another electoral college vote out of Omaha like he did in 2008. The other half is to protect Congressman Lee Terry from getting voted out. Marta and I live in the disputed area near the Air Force Base.

No politics involved in the redistricting of the Omaha-based congressional district — the place President Barack Obama won by less than 4,000 votes?
That's what the sponsors of competing Republican- and Democratic-backed plans in the officially nonpartisan Nebraska Legislature say.
In reality, both of the plans up for public hearing today divide the district to the proposing party's advantage. And though population counts keep either party from drawing the map to a significant advantage, the president's narrow 2nd Congressional District victory underscores the value of every voter.
The GOP plan would give Republicans an advantage of an estimated 8,500 registered voters in the 2nd District. The Democratic plan would trim the Republican advantage to about 3,800 registered voters, according to a World-Herald analysis of precinct data.
Currently, Republicans have a 6,700-vote advantage.
