Where's Breitbart now? 9 Rethugs sentenced to 150 years in KY vote hacking scheme
Edited on Sun May-15-11 09:51 AM by TheBigotBasher

The BRAD BLOG has reported on the Clay County election rigging conspiracy since the nine defendants --- seven of them were the county's top-ranking election officials, the other two a married business couple who made millions in contracts based on the outcome of the stolen elections --- were rounded up and arrested in 2009 for what federal officials described as the tail end of "decades" of manipulated elections there.

In addition to buying and selling votes and falsifying election results reports in primary and general elections in 2002, 2004 and 2006, the conspirators were also found to have changed the votes of voters after they were cast on electronic ES&S iVotronic touch-screen voting machines once voters had thought they had finished voting.

Following one of the officials, Republican election judge Paul Bishop, changing his plea to guilty and cooperating with prosecutors shortly after the arrests, the other eight were charged in a federal racketeering conspiracy and found guilty in March of last year. This past March they were all finally sentenced to a total of 1,871 months --- 156 years --- in federal prison. (We were neck deep in Fukushima coverage at the time of their separate sentencing throughout March and hadn't gotten the chance to report on it until now.)

Why is Breibart not interested in this?

Could it be that they are not black, actually did commit vote fraud and are Rethugs? Racist POS.

and how their criminal activities, and the use of no paper trail, black box voting systems, have changed American politics . . .

4. Tip of the iceberg.
We know Republicans, as a Party, are the most unethical bunch of crooks and hypocrites who reward those willing to subvert democracy. It happens on a far greater scale then we want to admit. But their numbers are dwindling and gaming election results are getting more difficult, so now they need to legislate to make voting more difficult for the average person. It's all about power and their ability to use the taxpayer revenue stream to take care of their own.

3. wow. You know, after a few stolen elections,
even the most liberal begin to lose hope, thinking that the rest of their fellow citizens are too into the GOP. When it turns out that those elections were fraudulent, based on crimes, I'd bet that the liberals and progressives will suddenly find themselves on top of many elections.

Let's just hope we don't blow it, and make sure our candidates are clean, honest, and hard working.

55. I know, I was so surprised
A 71 year old Charles Wayne Jones got 20 years! There has been so much election fraud going on for so long and everyone knows it, but until now there were no serious consequences for those involved.

When you think of all the people in prison for victimless crimes, and then people who actually STEAL our votes are on the outside living full and prosperous lives, it makes you realize how misguided this country's priorities are.

as the Republican criminals in Kentucky who *did* decide the outcome.

Which is more interesting? One person who steals 31 votes, from a primary, (not against the GOP) or nine people who steal whole elections for years, and profit off it like any good conservative profits off government?

Do you have any more examples of the rampant election fraud that holds the GOP at bay and brings prosperity to Democratic election judges?

By comparison, this is really, really small-time. It's like asking us to pay attention to the thief who stole a tip jar from a cafe.

It's also unlike the big-time GOP ACORN election fraud smear, which turned out to be totally baseless.

How about let's call attention to the GOP's strategy of false accusations and cheap distractions.

Why hasn't this been on the MSM? Maybe it was and I missed it. I would bet there are a lot of neighboring states that are just as corrupted.

At least we have proof it has been done and no one had to die in an airplane to keep it from being exposed.

19. Corruption isn't even limited to the guys at the top in the GOP. It's institutionalized
into the entire fabric of the party from the lowest municipal elections to the highest. Look how aggressive and fierce they are at getting out the vote in school boards. It's disheartening. The Democratic establishment have no real idea of how entrenched it is. Even if they do, they can't come out and say it; Faux News will excoriate them for having "conspiracy theories". The GOP and it's corrupt apparatus are sticking it all to us in the (_|_). And no one's fighting them back.

When I found D.U. this was THE topic, black box voting, Bev Harris - I remember Barbara Boxer and others stood up in the Senate and refused to authorize Bush's re election b/c of fraud. We SO wanted Kerry to DO something, investigate at the very least.

It's just crazy that THIS isn't THE news on MSM. It goes to the very heart of Our Democracy for christs sake.

36. Make sure EVERYONE knows about this
..there is power in information folks. Don't let an event like this be swept under the table as the actions of 'a few bad apples'

Make sure everyone you know knows how they pulled this off, who they are, what their party affiliations was & THE FACT THAT GOT CAUGHT & ARE PAYING FOR THEIR CRIMES!!

Again..there is power in information. Bullies & tyrants ran away from exposure like cockroaches in the light. Show them that they do NOT control everything, that they are NOT invincible, & they WILL get caught & pay for their crimes!

Now...I wonder how many of our Canadian elections may have been rigged. (other than the fact that winning slightly over a 1/3 of the vote gives the whole pie...grrr)

as opposed to the more influential STATE level (e.g. Katherine Harris, Ken Blackwell) where the authorities have power to decide electoral votes. And when will the executives at Diebold who rig voting machines face a stern judge?

And this story doesn't fit in the Breitbart/Fox News narrative "Watch out! Poor people fraudulently voting for Democrats!" And who cares what Pinocchio Breitbart has to say anyway?

53. Breibart...really?..lol...no money for him.
Sadly, this will not affect the way we vote by electronic machines. We have so much PROOF that they are easily manipulated and yet....

IMO, elections should be controlled federally. Additionally, people should keep a receipt that is illegal to be shown unless there is a voting irregularity. In a previous post, someone said that by having a receipt, it would make it easier to prove to "certain people" that you voted their way. That is true but elections must be verifiable.

Publicly-financed elections must become mandatory if we hope to overcome corporate "influence" in our political system. Reinstating the Fairness Doctrine would help Americans in every way, not just voting.

I even support mandatory voting as the price of living in a true Democracy. Especially if the Fairness Doctrine were reinstated. I realize it would need to be amended to cover cable, satellite and other means of transmission.

Subverting our electoral process should be punished more severely than bank robbery, especially if no one was hurt in the robbery.....

Current laws treat monetary crimes committed by the poor as more heinous than almost any other violation, this reflects the warped value system of the wealthy/elites.

BTW, I was one of two Democrats working a polling station in 2004. There were 6 republicans. They (repubs) sat and ate while the two democrats did all of the work for the first 6 hours. After that, I said I was going to the designated smoking area for a smoke. The republican in charge informed me that I was not allowed to smoke at a polling station (the legal smoking area was at the other end of the building and), I went and she had the police remove me from the premises...lol...she was a banksters lazy wife. Our local Democratic party offered to pay for me to sue them but I declined. Maybe I should have, just to inform people of the event. It was a very small town and the word spread quickly but the repub version was quite different than the truth. What a surprise. After that incident, I was referred to as "the smoker" by the local and state Democratic officials that I met subsequent to "the event."
