I have some conservative friends. I can even talk politics with them and stay civil. I don't think as people, they "suck" at all.

Still, people ought to be defined by what they do which includes (but is certainly not limited to) their voting choices rather than whether or not they have a superficially pleasant personality. One of my friends votes RW unfortunately, but also volunteered to spend a month in New Orleans rebuilding after the hurricane. In addition he has a pleasant and generous personality. So it would be hard for me to say that he sucks.
