What if (D)s Boycott some of Boehner's more insane votes? |
|
Things like the repeal of health care. We know it will pass The House and won't go anywhere from there. Why not boycott it as a way of bringing to light how ridiculous it is?
More importantly, what about boycotting the vote on raising the debt ceiling? Would this force more (R)s to vote for it to get it passed or would they just let it fail and hold another vote that we would need to show up for? I know this one might backfire but I am throwing it out there anyways.

2. Personally, I'm not in favor of voting boycotts. |
|
It's important for legislators to vote their principles, even if there's no chance you'll win. A boycott accomplishes nothing in these cases.

3. More importantly, the Republicans would use it as propaganda... |
|
"The Democrats are not taking their job seriously when we have to cut taxes for the job-creating uberwealthy Americans while curtailing spending by screwing Social Security and Medicare..."

5. That's certainly true. We need Democrats in the House to stand |
|
firmly against the Republican abuse.

By doing what?
I'm definitely down with the idea that voting no is better than abstaining. But I'm still lost on the talk of "spine" or "fighting" or "standing firm".

Why would any legislator want the historical record to say they didn't show up for an important vote? A future opponent would rip you to shreds over it. I can see the campaign ads now: Republicans repealed healthcare and didn't bother to show up.

6. No. I want them to vote a resounding NO on any of Boner's nonsence. |
