Get caught selling 30 dollars worth of pot? Go to jail for 12 years NO PAROLE.
http://reason.com/blog/2011/05/19/oklahoma-woman-sells-30-worth

In January 2010, Dee Starr and her grown children William Lamebull and Patricia Spottedcrow* were arrested in an early morning raid after selling $31 worth of marijuana to undercover police. According to Oklahoma City's KFOR-TV, it was their first felony arrests. Each was held on $100,000 bond. Each pled guilty. Here's what that got them:

William Lamebull faced the least serious charge, possession of marijuana around children.

He pleaded guilty and got two years probation, no jail time.

Dee Starr, who was facing more serious charges, two felony counts for
dealing drugs and for having drugs in front of children, got 30 years probation, again no jail time.

Patricia Spottedcrow pleaded guilty to her crimes as well.

She faced the very same two felony charges as her mother, Dee Starr.

However, Spottedcrow got a 12 year prison sentence, no probation.

She was sentenced to 12 years behind bars for selling two baggies of marajuana worth about $30.

3. BINGO!
If they can't get them for murder, they will get them for possession and if that doesn't keep the cells full, they will get you for jaywalking.

2. Bizarro justice
"Incidentally, Judge Pritchett does not ruin every drug offender's life. She once heard the case of a police officer's wife who was caught hiding marijuana in her panties. The woman 'was asked to apologize to the judge and never served a day in jail...'"

What do you bet she was a white police officer's wife not Indian?

Oh and 2 baggies of marijuana that cost 30 bucks? Where did she find it? In a ditch? I bet there wasn't enough THC in the stuff to get high with.

14. sure it would
you get regular weed for 15 an eight in oklahoma that probably has 4 to 8 percent thc, you get the schwag weed there for 15 a quarter and even that has 2 to 4 percent thc, it gets you high, otherwise no one would buy it. hell in chicago you can still get schwag for 50 to 80 an ounce, regular weed for 100 to 150 an ounce depending on your dealer and high strength indoor for 300 an ounce, lots of regular weed is sold for 30 a quarter amongst friends.

4. She got off easy.
Biden wouldn't mind seeing her taken out and summarily executed for being a "casual drug user". See the Senate hearings with LAPD chief Darryl Gates a few years ago.

5. Those Red states sure know how to keep government out of your life don't they?
Meanwhile here in the liberal, socialist, business-unfriendly welfare state of California, which has still somehow managed to become the sixth largest economy in the world, the fight is over zoning regulations for pot stores.

8. so taxpayers pay about $400,000 to punish $30 crime
Taxpayers are willing to divert that $400,000 from schools, parks, road repair, etc. to punish a minor pot-head.

The stupidity, the stupidity.

11. no, no, no, you have that all wrong,
she will go to work in the prison industrial complex and earn 15 to 25 cents an hour which will be applied to the cost of her stay.

when she attempts to be released in 10 years they will point to the fact that she hasn't paid her debt to the prison or society and

rejail her for being a scoflaw. If she does somehow get lucky and get out, she will never get a useful job again in her life due to having

a drug felony on her permanent record. So it's back to selling 30 dollar bags of pot to live.:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

13. ...and the contractor companies who get captive labor @ $1.00 per hour...
benefit in IMMEASUREABLE ways. Cheaper than Chinese children, captive on site, NO recuiting or retention costs, no burden cost (do they pay SSI? Health or any other insurance? Workers Comp -- lol. Vacation time? Holidays? etc. ad nauseum), not to mention there are armed guards on site (gratis, btw), so there are no security issues. They don't even need a parking lot...

Oh, and no prayer of a union.

Best deal ever.

10. I don't care how many kids Ahnold fathered out of wedlock -
His parting gift to the people of the state of California was a decree that makes it very hard to prosecute anyone in this state for small amounts of pot.

I would rather have someone in office that understands the baloney of the "drug" issue even if not that clear about faithfulness to his wife, than to see my fellow citizens locked up right and left for marijuana.
