Outgoing US envoy warns of a second ‘Mumbai attack’
http://www.firstpost.com/world/repeat-of-mumbai-attack-13305.html

Outgoing US ambassador to India, Timothy Roemer, has flagged the risk that “another Mumbai attack” – modelled on the November 2008 terrorist attacks with its origins in Pakistan – could have serious consequences in South Asia, including perhaps a conflict between India and Pakistan.

“If another Mumbai attack takes place in India, if we are not able to work with India to deflect that attack, it very well could lead to increased tensions and possibly some kind of exchange between these two nuclear nations,” Roemer said (from Xinhua)

Roemer, who was addressing members of Chicago Council on Global Affairs, noted that progress had been made in the area of counter-terrorism cooperation between India and Pakistan, but “a single violent event” could change all that.

In that context, he said, it was crucial for the US to assist India shore up its security and avert terrorist threats before they happen.

1. And I sure as shit don't want US troops literally in the middle of a nuclear exchange between them.
I have posted about this before. We want no motherfucking part of that pie. We don't even want to see the box that pie is in. This is why we need to get out of the ancient meat-grinder known as Afghanistan right now. And in the case of a nuclear exchange between Pakistan and India either Al Qaeda/Taliban will be wiped out or the invading Chinese troops will get them.

Problem, in a disturbing yet round-about way, solved.

Let's have those soldiers in Peace Dividend jobs in the US making rescue and decontamination equipment to sell to Asia. In a potentially grim outcome, that's where I'd choose our troops to be when the bombs drop.

2. The US -- Pakistan -- India triangulation is so deep
it's hard to take it all in.
