27. Love your user's name!
I am a Giants fan and went to games every year between 1959 and 2003. My grandfather played (poorly) 100 or so years ago for the SF Seals.

Hope Lincecum wins today and doesn't get in a no run support habit offense.

At the moment, my position is rural Humboldt county so 1/2 the way there today regards to pot and sex but one knows not what even the immediate future holds.

One neighbor is an Assembly of God (Pentecostal) minister -- fun, kind, and nice -- who doesn't believe in a rapture today. He told me to wait a week before I took his stuff. The bummer is I will have a riding mower but would have to mow myself because he mows my lawn and he and wife ate great neighbors that I would miss.

We cracked up because there is a scheduled PG&E electric outage from 8 PM May 21 to 1:30 PM Sunday May 22.

I don't think the PST Rapture will be clear until after the Giant's Dodgers game today or 8:00 PM PST.

7. Iceland is such a show off.
A simple earthquake wasn't good enough for them. Oh, no, they need fire and brimstone to ring in the rapture. :eyes:

Last time Iceland had a volcano blow it shut down air traffic for much of Europe, for those who may not remember.

http://www.icenews.is/index.php/2011/05/21/iceland-volcano-erupting/

It has been confirmed that Grimsvotn volcano underneath the Vatnajokull glacier in southeast Iceland has begun erupting.

10. Scientists think this should not disrupt things
It last erupted in 2004. Scientists have been expecting a new eruption and have said previously that this volcano's eruption will likely be small and should not lead to the air travel chaos caused in April 2010 by ash from the Eyjafjallajokul volcano.

11. I can't even fathom the amount of pollution a single volcano spews into the atmosphere.
We need to figure out a way to regulate volcanoes.

17. On a side note, they have some of the coolest names for locations there
like Grimsvotn, or Vatnajokull, or Eyjafjallajokul, or Kárahnjúkavirkjun, or Nesjavellir, or Hvammstangi, or Snaefellsnes, or Djúpavogur.

It's like they have a whole other language or something ;-)

26. Actually, from what I've heard, it's one of the trickiest languages on the planet to learn
particularly if it's not your native tongue. It has some really odd grammar rules, and special ways of conjugating things depending on context.

I don't speak Icelandic, but I do have some relatives who still do, and some more distant relatives who still live there too.

Icelandic Is dificult to learn. have never ventured to realy learn the language, as it is a language with some odd grammar rules.. But I can read some of it, but have to translate it, and it takes time.. its little silimar to "Norrønt" aka, old norwigian by the way.. Icleandic was never innfluenced in the same way as Norway when it came to forreign langauges after the black death.. Where most of our scholars was killed by the pleague.. And it happend also in a time where the written and spoken language was verry different, and where a lot of things have happend, and was happend.. Influence from Denmark, German was greater..

33. Moderate Iceland earthquake starts off the eruption of Grimsvotn volcano
UPDATE 22:35 UTC : Civil defense will ask farmers to pay close attention to their animals to make sure that they are not grazing from contaminated grass or drinking from contaminated water.

UPDATE 22:14 UTC : Volcanologists are overflying the volcano at the moment to examine the exact location of the eruption. The volcano consists of a crater (less problematic if the eruption is located there) and a number of fissures
below the glacier. If the eruption is happening below the glacier, a similar scenario of last year can be expected, although it is far from sure that the eruption will be as heavy as last year’s Eyjafjallajökull.

UPDATE 22:07 UTC : No spectacular eruption pictures or videos yet as the eruption started below the glacier and an eventual glacier burst is not expected before tomorrow.

UPDATE 22:04 UTC : The volcano has erupted thirteen times since measurements began in the early twentieth century.

I don't belive Odin was living in the caves under Icland then;).. But Fenrisulven was living there.. As a prisoner, by the rest of the goods.. And in old norse mytology, at ragnarok, Fenriksulven wil make it out of the prison, and the horrible war wil engufl most of the world.. And even the goods wil die... But in the end, a better, good world wil wake up in the end...

34. Volcano erupts in Iceland, spurs quakes
REYKJAVIK, Iceland — Iceland's most active volcano has started erupting, scientists said Saturday — just over a year after another eruption on the North Atlantic island shut down European air traffic for days.

Iceland's Meteorological Office confirmed that an eruption had begun at the Grimsvotn volcano, accompanied by a series of small earthquakes. Smoke could be seen rising nearly seven miles from the volcano, which lies under the uninhabited Vatnajokull glacier in southeast Iceland.

A no fly zone has been designated for 120 nautical miles (220 kilometers) in all directions from the eruption. Isavia, the company that operates and develops all airport facilities and air navigation services in Iceland, described this as standard procedure around eruptions.

"The plume of smoke has reached jet flying altitude and plans have been made for planes flying through Icelandic air control space to fly southwardly tonight," said Hjordis Gudmundsdottir, the spokeswoman for Isavia.
