I saw a DU bumper sticker today!!
I've never seen one before. C'mon fellow DUer, who was in Rohnert Park, CA today, driving west on RP Expressway around 3pm in a white van, who are you?

A few months ago I was shocked and disgusted to see a FR bumper sticker in my town.

1. Not me, alas!
I don't live up there, and I don't have a white van...

I wish it had been me, though!

I hope you find out!

:hi:

5. I wanted to wave to the driver, but he wouldn't have known
why I was waving. We need to establish a secret DU hand gesture, so that when this happens, we can make a sign to let them know we saw their DU bumpersticker. Or something.

8. Sounds like the right idea! Whatever is the official sign, it must be understood by everyone here.

14. I suggest the letters "D" and "U" in American Sign Language
They are easy.

Maybe we can start a thing here where it is cool for DUers to know a little sign language.

19. Actually I do know sign language, at least the letters
and I thought of doing that, but figured the liklihood of it being understood were pretty small. Maybe just the sign for "U" but with the thumb and ring/pinky fingers rounded, like for the "D" ?

20. Maybe, but I think we can get DUers to learn a little sign language

inquiring minds want to know

and the "D" followed by the "U" is about as simple a couple of signs that there are.

Anyone who can flip someone off can learn these, and I am pretty sure DUers can do that.

21. Good point about the "DU" sign
It is about the easiest pair, although it could probably also end up looking like a peace sign, during the transition of the middle finger.

3. Four or five years ago I was visiting my dad in Hot Springs AR and
Edited on Sun May-22-11 02:04 AM by Hissyspit
saw one on the car in front of me while getting gas at a station. I could have easily jumped out and run up to the window and said hello. I hesitated for a second because I was with my dad and his wife, and then the car drove off. Still wonder who it was after all these years. It was just off Lake Catherine.

Saw a bumper sticker in a theatre parking lot in High Point, NC a few years later and DID find out who that was by posting in the North Carolina forum.

9. That sounds like me.
White Dodge window van with a ladder on top. I was in Rohnert Park cleaning chimneys, and on my way home, heading west on the expressway at that time.

Cheers! :hi:

11. That's pretty cool!
It's kind of weird that I even saw your post. I was really tired tonight, and fell asleep at 7PM and woke up at 1:30AM, which is a weird schedule for me. I'm rarely awake at this hour.

Pretty cosmic, if you ask me. :smoke:

22. Twice, already, have I found a slip of paper under my windshield from a
fellow DUer who saw my bumper sticker. Made me so happy!

When I got

SO LUCKY

to become a Golden Ticket holder and I sent Skinner my size for the t-shirt I asked for a new one since this one is all but worn out.

We all should have one!

24. A DU bumper sticker
that looks like one of those country stickers-DU in black letters on a white oval- would be a cool way to be a stealth supporter in unhospitable areas.

25. I see them from time to time. I usually say, "Yay! DU!" and give the folk a thumbs up.
Unfortunately, I am afraid this often seems to freak out my fellow DUers no end: I'm beginning to wonder if some of are forgotting how on interact without keyboards and screens

OMG! He said "Yay! DU!" and did some weird uppie thing with his thumbses! WTF could he have meant by that?

Or maybe it just means I should bathe and change my clothes more often

27. LOL!
Maybe you should make up and carry in your car a small sign that you can hold up when you see a DU sticker. The msg could be something like, "DU username: struggle4progress."

A little bigger sign could add: "I bathed and changed my clothes. Honest!" :)

about 5 or so years ago. I posted a thread at the time but no one owned up :-(.

So if there is a DUer that was in the Tierrasanta area in the Vons parking lot off of Santo road and Clairmont Mesa Blvd.......
I saw you :hi:

29. I'm hoping to meet some DUers soon during "Mule Days" in Bishop, CA
Our vets' group in the Antelope Valley has one of the traveling Walls--replicas of the VN Veterans' Memorial--and we're taking it to Bishop for display May 27-June 2, over the Memorial Day period.

Our Wall Team is staying in Bishop for the duration, so I'll be around the entire time, beginning this Friday around noon. (We'll be accompanied by a large motorcycle escort as we roll into town.) Anyone mentioning my username will be directed to me (and I'll be easy to spot, wearing a jungle shirt with Screaming Eagle patches on the shoulders).

The Wall will be set up in a ballfield adjacent to Bishop's park (across from the bakery). I'll post more details in the CA and Vets' forums early in the week about the event and the opening ceremonies to be held this Saturday, but anyone can drop by even this Friday during setup--and we can always use more volunteers to help set up the panels.

The annual Mule Days celebration in Bishop during that time draws upwards of 35,000 people, so there are bound to be some fellow and sister members in that crowd.

I'm pretty jazzed about the prospect of having a linkup in Bishop. The only DUer I've met before was kerrygoddess, some years ago--and we wound up doing anti-Iraq War demos together.
