5. Streets blocked with debris, remaining streets impassable, it's a mess |

being reported on the EMS radio feed.
Fairview Christian Church in Carthage is taking in people who need shelter.
Sounds like a lot of difficulty in communications, police and EMS asking again and again for dispatch to repeat, lots of static and people talking over each other.
Massive problems with traffic in areas supposedly blocked off.

6. I can only see the view to the North |
|
Wonder if I need some other software or something. Clicking on the blue circle didn't change the picture. Sad story for that town.

14. CC concern has from 70's. How many decades must pass before its ok to ask questions |
|
as to whether a tragic weather event is the result of along term phenomenon and deserves long-term response-- type of buildings, location of development etc.

Jesus.
And are you saying that springtime tornadoes are uncommon in that part of the country? Um, OK.

19. I understand where you are coming from and my instinct is to agree with you. However... |
|
The climate change issue is gonna kill a lot more people far sooner then we would like to think and perhaps we need to take a page out of the conservative play book on this one.
Strike while the iron is hot and hammer away with the messaging, just like they did with 9-11. It was so effective then that they managed to get us to fight a unnecessary war in Iraq, while I never supported the war the vast majority of American's did.
I think it is time for us to get cut throat on the climate change issue, decorum and subtlety don't win the electorate unfortunately.

10. These aren't the first devastating tornadoes to strike the South. |
|
A little historical perspective never hurt anyone and often keeps the uninformed from jumping to conclusions.

may make sense. Those are the kind of considerations for rebuilding in New Orleans and Haiti.

because we are a lot like people from the North, East and West in being diverse, but yes, I am very concerned.

12. Somehow the trees are the most haunting. |
|
The destroyed buildings are bad, but something about the trees really shows me how strong this storm was. Watching this story all morning and listening to the cicadas (which have picked this year to come out) as they begin to pick up their "singing" makes everything seem so surreal today. The local news here (outside of St. Louis) said they had another heavy storm with hail this morning. Peace and safety to all affected.
