First Person video of Joplin MO tornado 5/22/11 |
|
Scary ---- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQnvxJZucds&feature=youtu.bethe owner writes: "The video i took while at Fastrip on east 20th street. We huddled in the back of the store until the glass got sucked out , then ran into the walk in storage fridge. Sorry for the lack of visuals but the audio is pretty telling of how intense the storm was. The tornado hits at around 1:20 seconds."

1. Warning! This is very, very intense. |
|
Must say I love that some people's instinct in such situations is to declare their love for everybody. Humans can be so great.

And that's what we have to remember for all the disasters ahead.

8. there's something sick about filming something like this |
|
It's disturbing and horribly invasive. I hope none of those people knew they were being filmed. In moments of absolute fucking terror the very last thing I'd appreciate is some fuckwad filming me and sharing that moment with the world. To even conceive of the idea to film this is pretty sicko.

10. It's a true record and an anonymous one. |
|
And any historian would give up teeth for it.

15. I'm outraged by your statement. |

IF THEY HAD DIED, this would have been found with them. The people who knew them would know that, despite their true and real fear, they stayed together, they helped each other, they protected each other, and their last words were loving. That is a great legacy.
It is no different than the phone calls from the Twin Towers, showing the best of people in the worst of moments.
It's unsanitized. And it is magnificent.
