Missouri tornado destruction chokes up Weather Channel reporter

The Weather Channel’s Mike Bettes arrived in Joplin, Missouri minutes after a tornado devastated the area.

Bettes became overcome with emotion while reporting on the aftermath.

1. The situation in Joplin is just heartbreaking. I don't blame the reporter
one bit for breaking down. Anyone would. I'm just sick at knowing 89 are dead and probably more than that are dead under the rubble. I'm just horrified by how bad this year has been with the tornadoes.

2. Thanks for posting this. I heard people talking about...
him getting emotional. Seeing it made me realize just how upsetting being on the ground there is. Those darn tornado's are worse than any hurricane I've ever been through.

3. I was choking up just watching the video.
You're right. I lived in South Florida and had been through many hurricanes. I now live in Georgia and many tornadoes have passed dangerously close to where I live. Yes, I would rather be in the middle of a hurricane than a tornado.
