My first OP: Dwight D. Eisenhower had it right, all along.
When he was the commanding officer for the Allied Forces, he saw action. Which I salute him for. And he saw the military growing bigger and bigger. Then one day, in 1961, he said this (from Wiki):

Eisenhower raised the issue of the Cold War and role of the U.S. armed forces. He described the Cold War saying: "We face a hostile ideology global in scope, atheistic in character, ruthless in purpose and insidious in method..." and warned about what he saw as unjustified government spending proposals and continued with a warning that "we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex." Though he said that "we recognize the imperative need for this development," he cautioned that "the potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist... Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together."

The Miltiary Industrial Complex as Eisenhower described it, is getting too big for its own britches, and would like to end the feeding. It's past time to cut the defense budget by a significant portion each year for the next 15 years. If a _REAL_ and CREDIBLE threat confirms up, all we have to do is ramp up the defense of OUR COUNTRY - LET THEM TRY TO COME TO THE US. We'll fight here, instead of over there. If they have a problem with us, we'll do it diplomatically, not intimdiation. It's time to end the Bush and the far-right Rethuglican policy of intimdiation.

It started with Ronald Reagan. It can end with Obama and his Congress, if they had any balls. Which I do know they do not. That's why we must work together to remove ALL Republicans from any semblance of power. I don't think any Republicans ever deserve to be there - when Ronald Reagan closed the mental institutions, he fostered a growth of insanity that needs to be corralled now. It's far past time to get the money back to domestic issues, including mental health programs, fully and permanently funded.

The War Powers Acts has to be amended to PREVENT any imperial, empire building, or for god's sake, acting like South Park's Team America, World Police. It's far fucking past time to end the role of "world police" because, for fuck's sake, we don't have the resources, and people LIKE to think they do.

I'm sick and tired of that shit. Thanks for letting me have a little platform to rant.

1. He also claimed that Sweden had the highest suicide rate in the world
and that it was the fault of Socialism.

2. A lot us are sick and tired of it. Nothing will really change
unless we the people change it through direct action.

There does not appear to be a viable political solution under the existing system.

3. read a story many years ago that Ike wanted to add 'congress'
to the 'M-I' and make it the 'military-industrial-congressional complex.' His staff worked all day and finally were able to talk him out of adding 'congressional' to the mix

"Susan Eisenhower, granddaughter of the President, told the audience of “Real Time with Bill Maher” on July 25, 2009, that the President’s original speech included Congress as part of the corruption in the warning, “In the original draft of the speech, it was ‘military-industrial-congressional complex.’ And the ‘congressional’ part was taken out because the President felt that he’d had excellent relations with a Democratic Congress and didn’t want to get into name-calling on his way out.”
