6. Only Erie Couty, which should go Dem |
|
I just looked at the map of the district again. Here are the counties involved: Erie Niagara Orleans Genesee Monroe Wyoming Livingston The bulk of the population are in Erie and Monroe counties. I'm poking around looking for other links. I think our local news stations said they would be posting the results. http://www.wgrz.com/http://www.wivb.com/http://www.wkbw.com/

3. This is way too important for the GOP symbolically. I fear the judges order... |
|
...while not entirely unheard of in a close race, does not bode well for us. His order impounding paper ballots and voting machines, delaying the counting for two days, just gives the now well-established money/power wing of the GOP extra time to work their "magic." Remember, nothing ever happened in Wisconsin, either.
Full disclosure: I want to be positive, I really do. I have an interest in this campaign...I did the creative for Hochul's direct mail.

4. Let's not get paranoid. It means they are scared. The order can be challenged and overturned. Hochul |
|
is a lawyer, and she and her team will be all over this. The best news will be if she wins sizeably there is no way they can cheat. Let's hope for that and chill.

What little campaign literature I got on her behalf was upbeat and positive. You can be proud of that mailing. The stuff I got from Corwin and Davis were pretty depressing.

7. Thanks...that's the feedback we like to hear! |
|
We only did positives, and a couple of comparison pieces (those were the last couple where we just showed head shots of the three candidates along with a list of their accomplishments...let the voter's decide for themselves). We don't shy away from negative campaigns, in fact we've won lots of awards for them. But this was a different kind of race. Let's hope it worked...I'm still quite cynical about what the GOP will stoop to when backed into a corner.

8. I'm glad you didn't go negative |
|
That's one of the things that set her aside from the other two. Our household has 1 registered Dem and 1 registered Repub, so we get everything. Phone calls from everyone and mailing from everyone. I would get the mail and separate it into piles. The Corwin and Davis mailings were basically the same - each one bagging on the other. Very little time spent bagging on Kathy. It was like she was an also-ran before she got out of the gate. I was getting the impression they were not taking her seriously.
The Davis & Corwin ads were mostly done in red/black and dirty yellow colors using a grunge typeface. They featured big red x's drawn through the opponent's faces, puppet strings and Corwin's used flat-out lies for the message. The early ads from Davis didn't even say "vote for me" it was more like "don't vote for her" (Corwin).
The Hochul mailing was totally different, crisp and fresh looking, cheerful, forward-looking and totally on message. There was quite a contrast and I think it could well have made a difference.
I'm just a voter who's mind was already made up without any of the mailings, but I just wanted to let you know that I really did look at them closely.
35 minutes till the polls close. Come on Kathy. Let's win one for the Dems.

10. I'm concerned about this too, and as an 'omen' of repugs actions elsewhere. |
|
Dems must NOT allow them to hijack ballot boxes, as they did in the past.
