Andy Ostroy on how Kathy Hochul won in her deep red area of Western NY and Dems should do the same
throughout the whole country from now till Nov. 2012.

...what Hochul shrewdly did up in Western New York was scare the bajeesus out of voters with: 'My opponent and her party will take away granny's Medicare and put her on the street with a tin cup.' And it worked, big time.

If Democrats were smart (I'm not so sure sometimes), they'd co-opt Hochul's strategy and aggressively run with it nationally all the way to November 2012. This is the absolute perfect bumper-sticker issue for them, and with it they could win many critical seats. The truth is, Americans dislike crafty politicians messin' with their large entitlement programs. And it ain't just granny and grandpappy that's pissed off. Voters, whether they're 20, 30 or 50, likely have several people in their families benefiting from Social Security and Medicare. What Ryan's plan did therefore was to commit political suicide for the Republican Party...

1. April 15th 2011 is the date that every Repub in the House slit
their own throats. They voted en-mass to replace Medicare with a coupon. Tell your constituents to

Look it up!

4. April Ides fall on the 13th
From Wikipedia;
The Ides of March (Latin: Idus Martiae) is the name of 15 March in the Roman calendar, probably referring to the day of the full moon. The term ides was used for the 15th day of the months of March, May, July, and October, and the 13th day of the other months.<1>

I only mention this because many years ago I was fascinated to find this out.

7. "Scary" is correct. After more than 100 years of Repub. news media propaganda
and lies, half of the American people have been dumbed down and brain-washed
into voting against their own best interests, and not even realize what they
are doing!

8. Yes, this ad sums it up very well, and with the truth, too. It calls a spade a spade.

9. Its more than just leaving grannie with a tin cup. Its also saying "save 5-10k more a year"
for your medical costs in the future - or you will be a leech and it will be your fault that you are a leech that in these lean economic times you aren't setting aside 5-10k more (who is earning enough in this economy to do this?) - This threatens loved ones who are older directly and threatens all of us indirectly - while pointing out who (rich republicans) really are those who are "entitled"

10. You're correct. The video was impressive. I forgot about the financial part.
Corporate America (medical insurance and pharmaceutical companies) with their over-pricing, is
bleeding the Admerican people dry. I've read that pharmaceutical cos. some times sell drugs
at as much as 5,000 to 10,000 times their cost price. The excuse they always give is that
research costs a lot of money.

Once the single payer system comes into existence, these companies will be reduced to
their proper size. They'd still be financially comfortable, but that's not enough for them.
They want MORE. That's why they are fighting so hard against it. But the American people
would finally be able to breathe a little easier.
