It is said by those that think 'being an adult' is about being cruel, and calculating not feeling.

So they call people that also think and feel in other ways 'children' not understanding at all how that works. One of the ways to burn out empathy is to give a 'special better feeling' to someone, and that can be done by saying they are the adults by being some way. And using that as an explanation for how to act some way. They are actually being manipulated and usually just learning to operate in a different way, without feeling and someone told them that is what an adult is.

It is also in 'world as simulation for a school' doctrine, and some variations of 'pet' doctrine. was a Twilight Zone episode on that.

It is easier to think of it as Academy years, if you were to use that metaphor, and not in the way you use it.

Although you have to be wary of innocence of a child, since it can put a person in a passive or easier to control role, so if someone goes Parent on you when you are having a good time while also feeling and thinking, then you have to shift to adult.

And I am completely capable of discussing adult to adult, but I have not seen any adult behavior.

As evident by the fact that I am due beer and travel money and many experiences.
