Don't link federal contracts to campaign disclosures, Graves says
Republican Rep. Sam Graves of Missouri offered legislation today that would prohibit the federal government from collecting data on political donations made by potential federal contractors.

The bill is designed to stymie a possible Obama adminstration executive order requiring agencies to do that very thing.

“Forcing small businesses that are seeking government contracts to disclose political contributions will wrongly politicize the federal procurement process,” said Graves. “Both Republicans and Democrats agree that this is a bad idea because we need less politics in Washington, not more.”

Graves, chairman of the House Small Business Committee, co-sponsored the bill with Republican Rep. Darrell Issa of California, chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Republican Rep. Tom Cole of Oklahoma also was a co-sponsor.

2. When they squeal you know you stuck them in the right place.
If allowed to stand, the executive order may bring down the whole Washington establishment.

4. What do they think they are going to accomplish
continually introducing legislation that will go no where? Most of what they've passed won't pass the Senate, nor be signed by President Obama, so why bother?

5. Noises out of mouths...
"Forcing small businesses that are seeking government contracts to disclose political contributions will wrongly politicize the federal procurement process"

Businesses that both make political contributions and seek government contracts have already politicized the procurement process.

"Both Republicans and Democrats agree that this is a bad idea"
Really? How many of each?

"because we need less politics in Washington, not more."
Excuse me? What unit do you measure politics in? And how would you expect a government to come to agreement on policy between groups with different agendas, except through politics? Arm-wrestling, perhaps?

Is there really any point in parsing the lies out of Republican speech, or should we just treat it as subhuman bellows and screeches intended to evoke reflexive behavior?
