Host’s Choices

This photo is chosen because it tells a story, and for an unusual take on Backlit, using two rooms indoors-- light and dark . I also love the way it is cropped and the way the light bounces off the creases in the trousers.

1. How marvelous a contest it was. A first for the complete secrecy
Edited on Mon May-30-11 10:27 PM by Mira
of who took which photo, which makes the revelation of the winners extra exciting. Thank you Celebration for a valiant contest that was a lot of work, and congratulations to Blue_in_AK - Blues Heron - and Sheepshank for the top honors with gorgeous shots in a tough field.

It was such fun to guess the artists and match them to the photos. I thought I would do a lot better than I did in that effort.

:)

This was a perfect contest. Thanks all.

2. 'waiting for me . . . . . . . . again'
was one that I voted for that I was surprised did not move on. So I don't know much about photography, but I have the same impeccable taste as the host!

And soup? I voted for your 'celebration' in the finals. I know it sounds trite, but all of our photographers put out such great work. I would proudly display any one of those photos in a frame in my home. Great job everyone! :applause:

4. I believe I also voted for that one in the prelims, PoolHallAce
It was a wonderful use of backlighting, and as the host says, it told a story.

5. I found I liked the mystery of not knowing who the photographer was
and had to laugh at my wrong guesses on the winner thread!!!

Congrats to all the entrants, and to Blue's impressive dragonfly photo ( I yam partial to them, meself)

6. And Blue was not in AK when that photo was taken
which added to the mystery. This is why I didn't post one of the backlit moose shots.

A big thank you to everyone who voted for my shot, and congratulations to everyone for a beautiful bunch of photos.

7. Yup I bet I know where that shot originated. CR and Tico country.
You broke my May winning streak two years running I won first in May. I too entered a photo that I could not be identified with, and ditched the one I had planned to enter because the photographers would have known it's mine.

I love your winning shot! Congratulations.

12. Thanks, ITF.
Yes, we're doing fine. The mosquitoes have just shown up within the last week. They don't care for my blood too much, but they're eating Jim alive.

At least that's where they attacked me when I visited. :)

19. Great Scott!!!!
I hadn't even noticed :) Sweet of you to even worry about it. But then, that tends to be how you are :) :)

I thoroughly enjoyed the secrecy of it all.

I was also completely mesmerized by the field and the talent and wanted to congratulate Blue for a beautiful piece of art, and Heron for the sweet tenderness of mother and child reminders.

Host choice were on the button for sure.

17. Well done and well run -
Great job Celebration!

Backlighting is one of my personal favorites. Mornings spent at the pond, coffee and camera in hand, watching the sun come up and the world come awake is something I hold and cherish very dearly.

Congratulations, Blue!
gorgeous photo - beautifully lit - and that bit of red on the tail of the critter? - perfection.

:applause::applause::applause::applause::applause::applause:To all who entered. These contest are getting harder and harder to vote in.:applause::applause::applause::applause::applause::applause:

A big congrats and job well done to are wonderful host who ran a seamless contest and introduced a new way of doing it.:yourock::toast:

I really enjoyed the not knowing what photo went with who even though I never bothered going back to check during a normal contest. I realize now that some memory of who posted what did stay in my mind.
