Christie refuses to reimburse N.J. for traveling by helicopter to see son's baseball game (READ PLZ)
Edited on Wed Jun-01-11 10:03 PM by DainBramaged
Facing broad criticism for flying by helicopter to watch his son’s high school baseball game in Bergen County, Gov. Chris Christie refused today to refund the state for Tuesday’s $2,500-an-hour flight.

"The governor does not reimburse for security and travel," a spokesman for the governor, Kevin Roberts, said in an e-mail message. "The use of air travel has been extremely limited and appropriate."

The State Police said the flight taken by Christie and his wife, Mary Pat, had presented "no additional cost to taxpayers."

That didn’t stop a horde of Democratic legislators — and even some conservative commentators — from denouncing the use of the helicopter by a governor who has become widely admired for his

1. Define "additional costs" . Does that mean they didn't have to load the crane for his butt too?

4. Appropriate???
I'd like someone to respond and ask for an explanation about how taking a chopper to a personal baseball game is appropriate.

5. I can't believe he couldn't walk the 100 yards from the helicopter to the field.
He had security. He didn't need a limo for the short drive.

8. His son must have felt like crawling under second base.
I mean, my Dad did some crazy-ass things at my Little League games, but this guy takes the cake. What an embarrassment.

10. How could it be no additional cost to taxpayers?
That doesn't make any sense.

11. What they don't tell you is he left the game early to meet Koch Bros representatives
trying to get him to run in Iowa. The game was inappropriate, but so was the political smooze with Kochco.

13. Sorry Chris. When you take a helicopter flight to your kid's little league game,
then a 100 yard limo ride from your landing point to the next field, you are *not* going to become the President. I don't know what he and his advisers were thinking. I have never run a political campaign but even I know that the thing to do is to show up in a pick-up truck or a Buick that's a couple of years old, ideally driven by yourself. And if his son's game was so important, he should have stayed for the whole thing.
