Over 1,800 RSVP For Next Jefferson Memorial "Dance Party"
Oh, so you thought that the arrest of several people who were dancing inside the Jefferson Memorial on Saturday afternoon would be the end of the whole brouhaha? Think again: the same group of people who put together the original demonstration are planning an even bigger display of civil disobedience this weekend -- and over 1,800 people say they'll attend.

...

"Come dance with us! You don't have to risk arrest, you can dance on the steps outside in support or join us in civil disobedience in the memorial!" reads the invitation, which also proclaims that "THIS IS NOT A PROTEST! I AM NOT ORGANIZING ANYTHING!" despite being arranged by several individuals. Regardless of your thoughts on the protest or those behind it, there's little doubt that a collection of over a thousand people could put a real crimp into the "atmosphere of calm, tranquility, and reverence" inside the Jefferson that the Court suggested dancing would compromise.

1. Jefferson loved to dance
and was a very accomplished musician himself. I think he would approve.

4. He invented a four-sided music stand for string quartets.
Rather clever.
he also played the violin.

Quite the party animal along with Ben Franklin.

5. The number of those claiming they're attending is now over 3000
The Facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=150453268357946 -- though you may have to be a Facebook member to view it.

There's also information at http://jeffersondanceparty.info/

This could be surprisingly big. People are coming from out of town. Police are not saying whether they will or won't let it go on without disruption (and may not yet know themselves.) It looks like Code Pink will be there -- and they've also got a petition going:

Local solidarity dances are springing up in other cities as well. And here's a Facebook page where some people from US Uncut are holding their own preliminary dance-in in DC two hours earlier to protest Apple's non-payment of taxes. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=214717505227133

I think some kind of electric wire has been touched here -- I'm not sure yet what it will amount to, but people are responding as though they've been waiting for this and already know their moves.
