Nice way to wrap up the week. I called two people to tell them "You're Hired"

One is a mid-forties African-American woman and the other is a young Hispanic gentleman.

I called them and told them that I wanted them to have a happy weekend knowing that come Monday, they will get a call from HR with an offer for employment.

52-54k to start.
2 weeks paid vacation out of the box.
Full benefits and a good management team and a nice place to work.

I have to admit, to be able to do that and to hear the sense of joy and relief in their voices.
Probably made me as happy to make those calls as they were to receive them.

Today, was a good day and a nice way to wrap up the week.

3. I can't tell you how nice it is to hear an anecdote like that.

I enjoy reading the news. I can't explain why. I just do. And so often the news is filled with a great deal of very heavy, energy-sapping bad news.

It's nice to hear some good news, so thanks for passing that on!

Thanks so much.
Believe it or not, we've hired 15 people since November.
I work for a big three telecommunications company that's not AT&T or the other guys.
We do... well it's so hard to explain, but where I work we help BIG companies manage their networks and help them run at an optimal level.

The BIG part is that I'm on the other side of mid-fifties and every person I hire is another one I get to manage.
I figure the 15 people we just hired, added another 5 years plus to MY career, which I have been fortunate enough to have been in for 25 years plus.

When I finally exit, I figure I'll exit with 30 years.
Not too bad for a hand-job with a NYC public education and a high school diploma, huh?
