1. Ironically, I thought of this exact same thing this morning.
Did the educated and sane citizens of Germany in the 1930s ever believe that a Hitler could happen to them.

Democrats and those who support the ideals of the Democratic Party had better start voting like their lives depend on it, because they do. No more excuses.

4. I think
That most citizens were apathetic with the downturn in the economy and really didn't care.

Most of the educated in Germany I feel were living in fear and did not become political.

The ones that did and opposed Hitler were Murdered during the "Night of the Long Knives" where Hitler's Nazi's went around killing all of his opposition.

7. It seems that the ones who became political and zealots and took over power in '30s Germany
were akin to the Teahadists of today, our very own anti-intellectual racists.

3. Enter Hitler, Release 2.0
http://kunstler.com/blog/2011/05/memorial-day-enter-hitler-release-20.html

I prefer to be direct. Sarah Palin represents a dangerous force in American culture that is startlingly similar to the grandiose hyper-patriotic militarism that Hitler brought to Germany during his rise to power. We have better things to do in this nation than go down some twisted path of vengeance-seeking in the name of lost glory. I hope that Sarah Palin's competitors on the right will stand up to her American fascist themes and call her out for what she is: a half-educated TV performer unqualified for high political office. The true shame of this country is that we have to take a clown like Sarah Palin seriously.

6. Palin Bots?
There's nothing great about Hitler comparisons. Your accusation insults good DUers.

8. In that case I apologize if you or anyone took offence.

I still think the comparison between Palin and Hitler is valid.

9. If an OP were great & well written, making good points, would having no Recs
make it any less worthy?

10. Good point I am not the best writer
It is probably all my fault for poor syntax and lack of clarity of thought.

13. But she is not going to seek the job. That job is hard work....
She does not want to work, she just wants to be famous, and "in the news"

That "job" works for her, just fine.

14. Palin is not going to be the nominee.
She has a core of batshit crazy supporters whose actual numbers are far exaggerated by the corporate-owned MSM. I'm guessing Romney will be the nominee with Palin out by South Carolina.
