Have you bought a GM Volt? |
|
I'm wondering what your impressions are.
Sales seem strange. Dealers are charging a premium, sometimes over MSP and other dealers already have used Volts for sale on their lots.

3. It would be cheaper to buy a Camaro and pay for gas for 5 years |

4. There's a note elsewhere on DU |

re other dealers have used Volts. Something to do with a dealership scam - claiming the rebate and then moving them on elsewhere for resale.

a Volt is not economically feasible. Financially you would be better off buying a Chevy Cruze and buying gas for 8 years

9. No. Could maybe afford one, just don't want one. |
|
To be honest, it's not good value for money. Nothing against General Motors, as they do indeed make some excellent cars that I would gladly stand in a long line for. This just isn't one of them.

11. If you need good MPG for just a lil cash... |

go look for an older Honda Civic from the mid 90's. Or you can look for a good condition early 80's Mercedes w123 240D or 300D Turbo Diesel. Lots around. Good solid car with a solid engine. Minimal electronic computer gizmos to go wrong. Parts still readily available because there are still so many around. 100k miles is considered "just broken in". Or you can go VW Diesel. Rabbit if you want to not to be as fast as a rabbit or a diesel Jetta. None of these cars should cost more then $2500 except maybe the Mercedes if it's in really fine condition. They are still very popular with a cult following.

13. Not yet - been watching Volts, Leafs and PI-Priuses tho |
|
Right now the best bet would be to wait until the price comes down. When the Prius MKII came out it had finally become affordable, and I bought one.
I give it 1 year from now - and by then the PI-Prius will be available, and Toyota plans to charge only slightly more than the Prius
