Weiner should resign when David Vitter does
No earlier, no later.

That's all I have to say about this.

1. So do we all hold to the lowest possible standards of behavior?
As long as someone else in a similar position has done something worse it's all good?

4. His "behavior" is between him and his wife
I don't get all this sanctimonious moralizing.

6. Agreed except that he made it public by lying to the press.
Had he said simply "No comment" I would agree. He chose to lie and get all pious with the press about it, it was not forced on him.

Are you serious? That's the other national pastime!

11. Simple answer he could have used
"No Comment" He was a pious ass through this, especially considering he knew he sent the pic.

Sure, Weiner should stick around. :eyes:

14. The problem is that Chris Lee did something very
similar but to a much less degree and stepped down in days. That is the standard that will be held up to him.

13. Why?
Vitter broke the law by patronizing prostitutes. The member posting his wiener, while sordid and tawdry in the extreme, isn't against the law.

21. Good point, thank you
Vitter actually breached the word AND spirit of the law.

If he were an ordinary citizen, he'd be in "John School" right now.

15. And Repugs have a candidate that was unfaithful three times.
And on top of that, left his cancerous wife to be with his lover. Wow, some values, how about the one that
was trotting in the "Appalachian Trails", not here, but in Argentina! frolicking in argentinian beds with his argentinian lover? Makes me puke.

17. My point exactly
I could care less about where Newt's dick goes. That's for the sanctimonious church ladies in the GOP to judge.

I don't subscribe to the theory that a person's sex life is indicative of their performance as a public servant.

Case in point: JFK.

22. No.
My point is, why is this an issue at all? Let the GOP crucify their OWN members for "moral terpitude"

Why does this have to be an issue for liberals who are supposed to be tolerant of personal issues?

Why all the outrage over private concerns?

Has Weiner's wife left him yet? If so, it's STILL not our business.

20. Disagreed. He shouldn't resign at all. The Turd Wayers will push it because they'd like to
sneak in a Cuomo type corporatist that will play ball and be willing to screw the people.

There is no need for Weiner to resign.

24. Right on. Weiner out? then Vitter out too. No way around it.
And if they make Weiner resign, they should have Vitter resign too. Otherwise it is absolutely NOT fair at all. I was recommended a website today called www.republicanoffenders.com, and www.republicanscandals.com.....I was flabbergasted, these
ignominious beasts mostly liked minors and children for their sickening deeds. I truly was horrified.

25. Yup
Resignations should be based on actual crime violations.

Not personal indiscretions.

Period. The End.

It would come across as petty and smallminded for the Repubs to dredge this up again in 2012.
