I wouldn't care if it was Newt, Feinstein, or Palin either. I just don't see how this is supposed a concern.

2. Yeah, since we don't know the extent yet, keep pretending it's only adults.
Frankly, nobody knows exactly what Weiner's weiner has been up to.

Sorry but this cynic knows (believes? understands?) that some things are just the tip of the iceberg. If Weiner is THIS obtuse about Twitter, he clearly doesn't "understand" basic Politics 101.

9. All Politicans lie, nothing new there, but if it's about sex...OMG
people go nuts! You can lie us into war, people go deaf, dumb and blind...but if it's about sex, then and only then do people care....I don't know why but they just do. Is it because it reminds them of their own failings or desires? Or maybe its because sex sells, and people just want to hear all the details. I don't know. But I do know if it's between two consenting adults, its none of my business.

28. "all politicians lie"
I am disgusted by that meme. All it does is discourage people from voting.

I don't even care that it is true, or very likely true. We shouldn't accept it.

39. You're right. We SHOULD NOT accept it. That's why it should be shouted from the rooftops.
The sad fact is that it's true. Because it IS true, I'd like to see each and every incumbent tossed out on his/her ass. If potential voters knew that they were voting for someone who hadn't lied to them before, they might just be encouraged.

Politicians are people. If you want to get people to vote, rid them of the absurd notion that politicians ought to be demigods rather than mere mortals. Otherwise they will stay home because nobody can meet their ridiculous expectations.

He called the press to him so he could keep on lying about it.

He made a decision. He could have said MYOB, but he didn't. He made a choice, and that choice was to seek out interviews and very convincingly lie his little ass off.

38. I posted this in another thread.
I hate this whole thing, but he gets no pass from me, for a few reasons.

First, he summoned the press to his office. Then he used them as an attempt to make fools of us. Every time he looked into the camera, he might as well have been looking each of us in the face personally. He continued to look into the camera for days afterwards, and in a smarmy manner, ridiculed those who asked questions about the situation. I think that goes far beyond an "embarrassed lie". Those things to me are the mark of a brazen pathological liar. In the end, he only fessed up because he was cornered. If his lies had worked, and this thing had gone away, he'd have surely continued this behavior. That quite possibly could have opened him up to blackmail. That's just one thing I find unacceptable in an elected official.

Second, at least one of those pictures (the shirtless one) was taken in his office, as evidenced by the pictures in the background. I sincerely hope that his wife is not further embarrassed by actually being in one of those pictures. I can't tell exactly who the people are, but I'm sure that when they saw the picture and recognized the photos, they were probably embarrassed for themselves, and furious at Wiener. I don't think "personal life" extends into his congressional office as that was bought and is paid for by taxpayers. That he would do such things while on my dime is something else I find unacceptable.

Third, he claimed to be a victim of a federal crime by saying his account was hacked. He even used the words, and I paraphrase, "I am the victim here". So far as I know, hacking into someone's online account is a federal crime. He then went on to imply that he knew who was complicit in this action, and without saying so much, pointed the finger at Breitbart, whom I loathe, but extend the same protection against false accusation I would any Democrat. This might be the most unacceptable fact for me.

He has shown such bad judgment in this whole mess from the very beginning that I think he's not suited for serving on a national scale. The Democratic Party, Obama Administration, and well being of the country are MUCH larger and more important than one Anthony Wiener. He's not a keeper, he's one you toss back into the pond.
