2. Sexual morals don't really seem relevant anymore. |

The cover-up is often worse than the original deed.

The moral (lesson) here is that sex sells what might otherwise be too academic ... the moral realm. |
|
There would be no philosophy of law if we defined the "moral" to be the legal. We could analogously try to define "valid" reasoning as reasoning that succeeds in persuading people, but then we might have to change the classification of mathematics (including number theory and Godel's Incompleteness Theorem) from exact science to social science.
If the difficult problem of clarifying the concept of the moral were evaded by defining it to be the legal, then perhaps moral relativists might be pleased by the existence of a wide variety of non-equivalent and sometimes conflicting laws in jurisdictions around the world.

3. Here's why our guys need to be better than them: |

If our guys screw themselves out of their elected positions they screw us out of decent representation. They need to take their jobs seriously and seriously address the banks, the Koch Brothers and Scott Walker.

on. Sex is the only thing that takes you to court or publicly humiliates you. We are in an age of pretend puritanism.
I say "let the one who is without sin cast the first stone."
Maybe we could take up stoning. The Media would be good at that.

How many kids are going hungry tonight because Congress and the news media spent the last two weeks on this bullshit? How many of their parents will be driven to suicide by prolonged joblessness?
How many cows contracted BSE because it would be prohibitively expensive to test them all?
How many people on the West Coast will develop cancer because of Fukushima and were not informed adequately about the risks for fear of starting a panic?
How many people will die or be displaced because Congress can't get its thumb out of its ass about climate change?
But yeah, Weiner sent out some racy pictures so everything else needs to go on the back burner.

6. I wish Weiner would use |

his time in the spotlight to bring up some of these other moral issues - such as the Thomas' lying on their tax forms and having conflict of interests in cases he decides. Have a whole list of the things he could bring up while he has their attention.

7. I'm reminded of the South Park episode "Good Times With Weapons" |
|
The kids take on the roll of ninjas and engage in play with weapons - one of them gets seriously injured - and they go out of their way to try to hide it. And just when the jig is up - Cartman gets the idea to use his "power of invisibility" to streak across the stage - and the parents freak out when Cartman's exposed male organ flashes in front of a live audience, and just as the kids freak out and think they're grounded, everyone has to make Cartman explain his actions because the parents are more concerned with sex than the kids' newly acquired weapons.
Kinda sad when that show is more of a moral lesson than the news media, right?
