Robert Reich: Why Washington isn't doing squat about jobs and wages
Robert Reich writes: "Republicans don't want to do anything about jobs and wages. They're so intent on unseating Obama they'd like the economy to remain in the dumps through Election Day. They also see the lousy economy as an opportunity to sell Americans their big lie that government spending is the culprit - and jobs will return if spending is cut and government shrinks." Democrats, of course, deny that the recovery is slowing down. Another important factor is that the unemployed are not in a position to do anything about their unemployment.
There is no "National Association of Unemployed People."

5. We prefer not to see
the unemployed, the uninsured, the untreated. Too bad for them. But if we don't see and acknowledge their circumstanc es then we can deny just how precarious our own circumstances are.

9. What you say makes sense. I wonder if people might be interested in starting
a "National Association for Finding Jobs for the Unemployed." There is no better
time for starting one than right now.

7. Why would they? Do people still believe our politicians want to "help people?" What about Santa?
I just don't see any connection between people in Washington and the idea of "helping people."

8. The idea in Washington of helping the people began to die and
change to "I want to help me and myself only" ever since Reagan.
