Herman Cain: I’d tap gay cabinet members because they wouldn’t impose Sharia law

Republican 2012 presidential candidate Herman Cain, who was recently criticized for saying he wouldn’t permit Muslims in his cabinet, says he wouldn’t have a problem with openly gay appointees.

“Nope, not at all. I wouldn’t have a problem with that at all,” Cain told ThinkProgress at an event in Iowa. “I want them qualified, I want them to basically believe in the Constitution of the United States of America. So, yup, I don’t have a problem with appointing an openly gay person.”

“Because they are not going to try to put Sharia law in our laws,” he said, with a giggle

Sorry, you can't pick & choose when it comes to things such as racism and homophobia.

EDIT NOTE: I stand corrected. I should have used Bigot and not racist

3. he is a bigot and for people who whine about the use of the word racist in this content
Edited on Tue Jun-07-11 09:16 AM by La Lioness Priyanka
anti-arab feelings are high correlated with anti-muslim feelings.

most muslims live under western democracies, so when these people talk about sharia law, they are clearly referencing anti-arab sentiments. which does make it racism.

6. Well Bigot would probably have been the better world but overall let's face it...
He's an asshole.

And I'm guessing he's not the biggest fan of gay people either.

5. Isn't that the whole point to racism is picking and choosing?
I like black people but I don't like arab people?

Not saying it's not stupid and evil, but I think if you are going to be a bigot, you do get to pick what groups you are bigoted against. Someone who hates everybody is a Misanthrope, not a Bigot.

Although I suppose you could hate everybody but especially hate episcopalians. In which case you would be both.

7. These guys are so stuck on Sharia Law
why does anyone ask them what they mean by Sharia Law? And why doesn't anyone tell them that the Constitutional separation of church and state stops any religious lawmaking?

They are just using this as buzz words without meaning and it's dangerous rillying up stupid people into frenzies.

8. Isn't Shiria Law based on many of the old testament/Leviticus laws that bible bangers use
I mean how are Christian Zealots any better when they refer to obtuse laws found in Leviticus like the one that 'condemns' homosexuality. I mean according to Jesus the only important old testament laws are the ones found in the 10 Commandments (which to be honest, most of those laws are just common sense like 'don't lie, don't murder and be nice to your parents'.

So for a Christian to reference Leviticus for their beliefs, to me, are no better than Muslims who obey Sharia Law.

9. Yes
exactly..I don't get it either...that's why it's just buzz words for them. Because if they knew what it was, they'd see, it is the same shit they are preaching.

10. I tried to explain that to a person I know from Oklahoma
it's all just buzz words that have absolutely no real thought behind them.
