Watching Mira Sorvino on sexual trafficking. On MSNBC.
Edited on Tue Jun-07-11 12:03 PM by The Backlash Cometh
New problem. There's an increase in the number of underaged girls who are being lured into the sex trade. They come from impoverished home and foster homes, lured in by Romeos who offer them love. Too many as young as thirteen.

Mira says that there are several states who have a mistaken age loophole which allows Johns from getting the worst penalties just by saying that they thought the prostitute was older.

Can't believe that MSNBC gave the issue five minutes, while the Weiner story has everready bunny legs.

1. This topic will die a rapid death, and get recced twice. Meanwhile, new Weiner topics will
dominate GD and LBN today through Thursday, joining Olive Garden and circumcision in the annals of DU history as most popular topics of discussion.

Sad. We go on about how the MSM shoves trivialities in our faces when we "really" want important news; then people post topics about modern slavery, and everyone yawns.

2. We should make an effort to give some of these other stories some coverage on GD.
It's really the only power we do have.

3. True. Sorry if I sounded bitter, I should try not to do that.

5. Anyone want to talk about modern slavery? Guess not. Not as important as Weiner's weiner.
Bumping anyway.
