When you cross the line from politics to a couple's marriage, you've crossed into Shut the Fuck Up
territory.

The nature of a politician's marriage is none of our business. Even more to the point, how dare we tell people how they ought to act toward their spouses.

We may all agree that Weiner, Gingrich, Schwartzeneger, Edwards, Sanford, Spitzer, and all the others are pigs. Or not. But when we get into giving our unrequested opinions on the proper behavior of their spouses, we are the ones crossing the line.

I may think Maria should clean Arnold's clock, but the fact is, that's her business and not mine. The best thing I can do is shut my pie hole.

2. I don't care if he lied to his wife...
he lied to me...and to you.

And then he did it again...

And then he did it again.

If people weren't responsive to these stories they would be non-issues

28. I'm not in his district so I can't make a decision on whether to vote for him...
But I spend a lot of time and money supporting the Democratic Party, and I'd prefer not to have my investment screwed up (you don't know how much effort it takes to get your taxes raised.)

5. This is much more than about his marriage and I am sure you know that..
There are serious ethical and perhaps legal issues here. If he doesnt resign there will ugly, messy, and embarrassing investigations that could last quite awhile and all the time his approvals and Democrats approvals will likely drop. Not worth it.. He should resign.

9. Yes, I know that. And the OP refers to the politics of it. That's a legit topic.
Now we hear his wife may be with child. Much INAPPROPRIATE cluck-cluck will ensue. As but one example of a trip into Shut The Fuck Up Territory.

8. I trust this will be the last word on this aspect of the matter.
I agree with the opinion that people should keep their opinions
to themselves on this matter unless an involved spouse or facebook
friend requests those opinions.

23. It is apparent that if you are 'on my team' the answer is NO! I'm disappointed in the hypocrisy
I'm witnessing by the 'oh so appalled when it happens to the other team', indeed!

I don't even know if I want to associate with some of these apologists as their excuses are so demented.

This man, Wiener, is a sick, disturbed individual whom I hope seeks help immediately but not while he is serving in the US Congress.

Interesting that you made that statement immediately after youryou said what you think Mrs. Schwarzenegger ought to do.

So, in the end, what you're really saying is that everyone ELSE should shut THEIR pie holes while you slip your opinions in sideways when you think no one will notice.

Cute.

is the same as not giving your opinion, in my opinion,
which is not my business.

27. Oh.......I get it now,
I'm free to say that I think that taking marriage vows and then continuing to engage in sexual behavior with other women.......or with minors, for all he (or we, for that matter) knew........even if there was no physical contact, and continuing to engage in behavior that he then has to tearfully apologize for in front of the entire Country, is shameful and despicable and I feel so very sorry for his wife.......

It's perfectly OK for me to say that, so long as I also say "but the fact is, that's her buisiness, not mine".

Got it. I'll update my rule book.

Like Hell I will.

Edited on Thu Jun-09-11 08:33 PM by WinkyDink
We never cared whom Jackie then married; it was HER beeswax, not OURS.

And when John, Jr, grew up? WHO CARED whom he married or who her sister was?

Madame du Pompadour? NOT OUR CONCERN. Anne Boleyn? PERSONAL. The Profumo Scandal? BRITISH PRUDES.

38. When they stop defining marriage for the rest of us, we'll stay out of theirs...
Who are they to tell two men not to marry? Who are they to tell two women not to marry?

THEY ARE POLITICIANS and they spend all kinds of time discussing marriage! Tell them to fuck off and then we will.
