Donnelly calls on Weiner to resign, will give $5,000 in contributions he received to charities
Edited on Wed Jun-08-11 07:18 PM by The Northerner
SOUTH BEND, Ind. — U.S. Rep. Joe Donnelly is calling on New York Rep. Anthony Weiner to resign for sending a lewd photo of himself to a woman via Twitter and says he will give $5,000 he received from Weiner's campaign to Indiana charities.

Donnelly said in a release on Wednesday afternoon that Weiner's actions have disgraced Congress and it is time for him to resign. He says Weiner's refusal to resign is a distraction when everyone should be focused on jobs and the economy.

Donnelly's announcement came hours after Rep. Allyson Schwartz of Pennsylvania became the first Democratic member of Congress to call on Weiner to resign.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee had criticized Donnelly on Tuesday for staying silent about Weiner and for not returning the campaign money he received from Weiner's campaign.

1. What bloody nerve. That was money for political purposes.
And he let the Republicans tell him what to do? Dance, puppet, dance!
