1. Well, DUH, showing your private parts to a willing adult woman is obviously a million
times worse than mass murder and torture. Don't you know ANYTHING? (Can you guys just pretend I have the sarcasm emoticon thingee here? I'm too lazy to look it up.)

3. I've 180'd again on Mike
I was disgusted with him the day he admitted to his deceit.

But the avalanche of undue demonization of his tawdry episode has reversed my opinion.

I know I'm flip-flopping like it's 2004 but I'd like to see him stick around if only in the background.

7. What's a leap?
Aren't many calling for him to resign? Are not those that ordered torture walking around freely and appearing on our TV screens?

8. That's a false choice. Just because so-and-so is bad, means our guy can be bad, too?
We're better than that.

15. We can walk and chew gum at the same time. What to do with Weenie is a no-brainer.
He should be ridiculed until he resigns.

17. What about crimes by elected officials?
Should there be double standards? All questions we should answer. Personally, I consider my country as having died or gone since GW Bush. I'm an American by accident of birth now, not of any shared value with it's current mode of operation. So I ask others that are still sufficiently confortable with it in its current form about what things should take priority.

20. Right now it is not clear that Weiner committed any crimes, but...
if he did we should boot him and all criminal electrd officials from office.

I don't really get this someone-else-is-bad-so-it's-all-okay view.

21. No one is presenting that view except a few in this thread.
My question would be more on the line why outrage and action on one and not the other (torture is a crime).

27. The torture story actually got more attention.
There have been protests, articles and more. In two years, this will be barely remembered.

16. And it's not a choice between him and torturers.
It's a choice about what creates national outrage and what doesn't. Torturers should feel quite comfortable in this nation.

14. Interesting responses so far.
For clarification, this is not a pro or anti Weiner thread. It is simply a statement of voiced or acted on national sentiment in both cases. One is a crime, one is a misjudgement or personal stupidity among adults. Interesting indeed.

Think about the question a little deeper.

31. It's not that what Weiner did was so wrong...it's just f**kin creepy.
He is now a major distraction in the Democratic Party and he should go. At this point it's what's best for all of us. Anthony Weiner is now a punch line instead of a hero to progressive causes.
