Weiner Almost Certainly Did Break The Law/Rules. So Please Stop Saying He Didn't.

I am pissed at Weiner, not for lying for a week, but wasting all that time and not getting his ducks in a row.

He should have been using that time to figure out if he:

*Used Govt time/equipment/resources to engage in his sexting (against House Rules) during that precious time.
*Corresponded with any one underage (against Law)

And then we find out he

*offered his Public Relations team to help with damage control (against House Rules)

Weiner seemed to have no discrimination at all in sexting so I highly doubt he went through the trouble to determine who was over 18. He'll be damned lucky if, after the House Ethics Committee investigates, none of the people are underage. Remember, the House Committee will have Republicans out to seek blood and soundbites.

As for using Govt resources, I'm not going to defend that. It doesn't bother me personally, but I understand why so many other DU'ers don't find it acceptable.

At the very least, I'd advise Weiner sto quietly check himself into a clinic for addiction to sexting and release a statement from his office. That might give him a bit of a shield and expand the conversation around his actions and give him more leeway going forward.

But even if I were close to Weiner, multiple people around him have said he doesn't take advice.

2. I would say that would be for a jury and/or an ethics committee to decide.
We are not in any position to say one way or the other.

7. There is no greater champion for the little guy than Anthony Weiner

and the day I jump on the bandwagon with Rance Priebus and Andrew Bteitbart against a fearless unapologetic true progressive in Congress -- one of the very few-- somebody shoot me. Be careful what you wish for. In a legislature drowning in Republicans and Blue Dogs, we can't have too much Anthiny Weiner.

10. And he chose to make himself a liar before the whole nation. His choice. Nobody made him do it.
He pissed away a promising political career, made himself a national joke, and for what?

9. But isn't it OK because others do it, particularly Republicans, conservatives.
Because everybody knows that if they do it then it is fine and dandy if Democrats do it also. Although that might be a very juvenile attitude and philosophy, to excuse wrong-doing or stupidity or lying because others do it too, but I've read that sorry excuse here at DU more than once.
