i don't have Twitter, but I understand that it makes up for low-bandwidth by being instantaneous. Because you only get 140 characters you're forced to compress your message to as few words as possible. Correct me if I'm wrong about this, but the popularity of Twitter comes from its immediacy, not the space it allows you.
