Both Parties to Become More Inclusive After the 2012 Laugher |
|
The Democrats may be facing a similar shakeup to the one Republicans can't avoid after their collapse in '12. While liberal dissatisfaction is already causing bruised feelings, it's too soon to handicap winners and losers among Democrats.
2012 won't be 1968 by a long shot, but there are real grievances. Because the Republicans lack a unifying figure like Nixon was, Democrats won't openly acknowledge disharmony as they did when there was rioting in the streets. Moreover, the new Democratic party won't be hostage situation 1968 was.
Ironically, the centers of both parties are likely to be considerably larger than they are now. The Republicans desperately need to get rid of their stumblebums, and they've got a lot of them.

1. How is 2012 like 1968 again? .. or NOT like it. What does 1968 have to do with anything? |
|
...that may be happening in 2012?
I ask in part because I was very much present in 1968, and today is so totally different in so many ways I can't count them.
Just a friendly query. :hi:

4. Young "Democrats" in the streets chanting "hey hey LBJ, how many kids did you kill today" |
|
What is the same is the level of disgust within the Party over how it is leading America...What is not the same is the amount of people taking to the streets...

6. Leftists are HOSTAGES In Today's Democratic Party |
|
It doesn't take great foresight to predict a Republican shakeup after '12. There's no way they can get their act together between now and then, and right now they're in such disarray they're just going through the motions.
However, the Republican shakeup is going to provoke something of an Arab Spring among Democrats, some of whom have suffered for years waiting to be heard. The fact that you use the word inclusive to describe Democrats indicates to me the extent of the problem.

3. If by "more inclusive" you mean |
|
that Democratic politicians will start listening to their base on occasion instead of constantly bowing to the whims of their corporate overlords, then yes, I can see that as a possibility.
