HILL POLL: Politicians, Congress unethical — and getting worse

More than two-thirds of voters think the ethical standards of politicians have declined over the past generation, and almost as many say Capitol Hill lawmakers are downright unscrupulous, according to the results of a new poll commissioned by The Hill.

A striking 68 percent of likely voters polled said the ethical standards of politicians have deteriorated in recent decades, while just 7 percent said they have improved during that time, the survey said.

Meanwhile, 58 percent of voters think most members of Congress are “unethical,” while only 25 percent consider the majority to be principled. Seventeen percent are unsure.

1. Well, that speaks well of the populace's grasp of reality.

2. I don't think the behavior is deteriorating.. I think we are being made more aware of it

and with the electronic media we have now, it's instantaneous and forever....always ready to be exposed.. and re-exposed if we "missed" it somehow.

The "olden days" of hidden letters, negatives & photos hidden away in a box or drawer are long gone..

3. Unethical means to me, that they are all bougt and paid for

by Corporate America.

And I think that is what concerns most voters. Their personal lives don't affect us, unless some voyeuristic, well-funded, nasty, racist, frontman for the Corporate American right, starts snooping around in their garbage cans.

Then we have to watch the spectacle of our excuses for journalists give breathless blow-by-blow descriptions of every little detail as they join the mob peering in the windows.

And mostly this happens mainly to Dems. Repubs tend to get caught by the cops.
