Obama Suggests Weiner Resign
President Barack Obama said Monday that if he were Rep. Anthony Weiner, he'd resign.

Mr. Obama made the comment about Mr Weiner as House Democrats prepared to debate Tuesday whether to punish the New York Democrat for his use of social media to send sexually charged messages and lewd photos to women he encountered online.

"I think he's embarrassed himself, he's acknowledged that, he's embarrassed his wife and his family," Mr. Obama said in an interview Monday with NBC News.

"I think he's embarrassed himself, he's acknowledged that, he's embarrassed his wife and his family," Mr. Obama said in an interview Monday with NBC News.

"Ultimately this is going to be a decision for him and his constituents", ((which I agree with*)) Mr. Obama continued. "I can tell you that if it was me, I would resign. Because public service is exactly that, it's a service to the public. And when you get to the point where, because of various personal distractions, you can't serve as effectively as you need to at the time when people are worrying about jobs and their mortgages and paying the bills, then you should probably step back."

on edit: (( * ))= my opinion

8. Sometimes I think people don't even read the first few lines of stories...
they just look at the headline and then they are off...

14. Obama should take his own advice.
Obama's close relationship with Wall Street and the continued lack of transparency in the government embarrass me far more than Weiner's full disclosure of his private parts.

19. He definitely suggested that Weiner should resign...
...he did not say outright that Weiner should resign; what he said is "...if it was me, I would resign...when you get to the point where...you can't serve as effectively...then you should probably step back."

If that's not suggesting that Weiner should resign, then I'm not sure what would qualify.

6. I don't understand
Weiner's actions are in the past, why isn't the president telling us we should look forward - or does that only apply to war crimes?

16. Yeah really-- let's put it in D and Look Forward.
What the hell? If it's the adult thing to do about war crimes and election fraud, I don't see why it shouldn't apply to this little insignificant thing.

13. As the Rabbi said, Weiner is being thrown under the bus by his
own party.

How soon will it be when see Democrats(Congress and Senate)
on TV regularly doing all those things Weiner supposedly
kept them from doing?????

15. Weiner's throwing himself under the bus
Just look at that sniveling press conference. He's not acting like a man who has the support of his constituents; he's knuckling under to image consultants in hopes of holding on to his sinecure.

17. When Obama is half the president that Weiner is a congressman then he can give advice.
Until then Weiner should be giving the Obama advice on polices and governing.
