Rand Paul's headstomping goon gets a slap on the wrist... fine+probation

< article >

A supporter of Republican Rand Paul’s Senate campaign in Kentucky will serve probation and pay medical expenses stemming from an assault on a liberal activist in October, the Associated Press reported Monday.

Tim Profitt was a county campaign coordinator when WDRB Fox 41 posted a video showing Profitt and others wrestling Lauren Valle to the ground and ripping a wig from her head. Profitt stomps once on her head and neck in the video, which was taped in Lexington, Ky., before a debate between Paul and his Democratic opponent, Jack Conway. Paul’s campaign disassociated itself from Profitt after the incident.

In his plea, Profitt acknowledged that prosecutors had enough evidence to win a conviction but he didn’t admit guilt, according to Assistant Fayette County Attorney Jackie Alexander. He will undergo unsupervised probation for a year and pay $600 for Valle’s medical bills. Profitt’s attorney, Michael Dean, confirmed the plea to the AP.

Valle was posing outside the debate as a representative of RepubliCorp, a fake company invented by the liberal group MoveOn.org to criticize Republican ties to corporate America. She had been trying to give Paul a RepubliCorp employee of the month “award” when she was confronted.

Its absolutely disgusting that they let him plea down to a reduced sentence when the case against him was slam dunk. Furthermore, shouldn't a violent offender have to undergo some sort of counseling or anger management?

I have no doubt that gutterslime scumbag will victimize someone else.

2. Fox has a good headline --> Former Rand Paul Campaign Worker Gets Probation for Stomping Liberal
The comments are golden as well; apparently we need to expect this kind of treatment. http://nation.foxnews.com/assault/2011/06/13/former-rand-paul-campaign-worker-gets-probation-stomping-liberal

3. Those commenters at Fox are some real dickwads. Meanwhile the media continues with the false

equivalency "both sides do it" bullshit.

4. Take a look at this exchange. Holy crap.
Borderline Normal Person: Have we all become so jaded that we think it's ok to embrace this type of behavior? All I see on this post are comments saying "she deserved it", or "well what about liberal violence against conservatives?". NO! That is not even close to justifiable for either side! Face facts, whether this had been a liberal attacking a conservative, or a conservative attacking a liberal, this should never be condoned. This is despicable behavior no matter how you slice it, that deserves to be punished, and DESERVES to have severe ramifications attached. If the time has come that it has become acceptable in this country to physically attack fellow American's you don't agree with, we have far bigger issues than our economy, taxes, and health care. What the H e l l are we doing?

Psycho 1: Tell me since you want to defend the indefensible, how do you know that she wasn't carrying, or had a bomb vest, or a knife? Hindsight is 20/20, but actually being there and seeing it unfold are 2 different things. Fisrt she was in disguise, second she was wearing concealing clothing, third she charged forward suddenly as if to attack. Security personnel look for exactly that kind of behaviour in assailants. So what if they reacted the way they did, it shows they, and the onlookers were on the watch for lunatics and nutjobs. If she didn't act like a Hinkley, none of this would have happened!

BNP: Paranoia is never appropriate justification. It's that same paranoia that would lead to such a situation.

Psycho 2: YOU ARE ONE OF THE MOST DISHONEST PEOPLE ON THIS WEBSITE. If she approached O'Bama the same way she would have had the SAME THING HAPPEN TO HER.

BNP: Are you kidding me? You're going to take not only fundamental christian teaches, but basic human standards of decency, label them as bleeding heart left wing tendencies, then tell me that the beating of the innocent is justified? Finding justification in violence over something someone MIGHT have done isn't patriotism, bravery, or christians, it's sick, sociopathological, and a straight mental illness. Fact. Done.

5. i would've acquited him.
The way that loon charged Dr. Paul while seeming to conceal something behind the sign was alarming.

People need to be really careful how they act around politicians. As was illustrated by the Gifford case, the threat of assassination is very real.

If had been on that jury I would've made Valle buy Profitt a new pair of boots.

8. Once the "threat" is down and no longer a "Threat"
She was on the ground. The crime was committed when the head stomping took place. there was no threat at that time.
He was guilty plain and simple.

13. It is a very quick exchange - under a minute
Also is saying "fuck you" a good argument technique? Does it get people to see things your way? I've had no real luck with it, myself.

16. Except Giffords wasn't shot until some months after this crime
I can only say that I'm glad you're not on many juries. Video evidence of a curbstomping by beefy nitwit on sign-carrying small woman leads you to conclude that she owes him a new pair of boots. That's the sort of mentality that had the Soviets charging families for the bullet used to execute dissidents.

12. yes, and it's because people don't see justice
Right now, people are not reacting with violence, but if this shit continues, people will take things into their own hands, and I'm not saying it is a good thing.

And by real justice, I'm talking 7 figures.
