The shit they do. ALL OF THEM.
They all have charities now. The charitable foundations and tax-free philanthropic trusts are just ways to siphon (bribes) money to their friends, family, whothehellever.

They (congress) are exempt from self-dealing. legally. 'nuff said.

Some have had STOCK TRADERS (Tom Delay) working in their hometown offices. They are too lofty to recuse themselves (the insult!!!) and they are exempt from insider-trading regulations.

They have offshore tax-and legal-judgement dodging accounts out the ass. Talk to any Caymanian local.

This cuts across party lines. It's pervasive, and this list off lesser-known sins is just off the top of my head.

We're screwn.

Or they are.

Decide.

1. We elect, then reelect, them because they are the most articulate, the best
educated, the ones with the highest intellect, and that's what we want in our elected leaders.

With that, and the shitstorm that they have created or allowed to be created, one might think that picking the most articulate, etc. is not the correct way to go.

3. Based on the 2008 election, I'd say you are correct. But in general,
we tend to make an effort to elect what we think are the best of the crop.

The 'best' hasn't been working out for us all that well. Multiple wars, attacks on socical security and medicare, infrastructure falling apart around us as money is thown at the defense department for those multiple wars already mentioned.

4. No candidate for office should run unopposed.
They would fight to the death for their "careers".
