2. Last night Anderson Cooper reported that Newt had started a charity then
had an employee of his get paid for consulting to that charity. Also the charity gave Newt's campaign a mailing list without claiming it as 'in kind' which they are supposed to do. I don't hear about it anywhere on CNN now and I've been listening for about an hour.

16. The term "jackpine savage" is used in the north woods of WI, MI & MN
Edited on Thu Jun-16-11 02:01 PM by Jackpine Radical
in referring to backwoods people, sort of like hillbillies. Jackpines are rather scrubby but very hardy pines that tend to be among the first trees to seed after a forest fire or clearcutting. There were many thousands of acres of jackpines growing in the poor, sandy soil of that country after the virgin white pines were logged off. I come from that country & took the name as a simultaneous expression of my origin and my politics.

Slightly off-topic, but I used to tell city-raised mental health professionals who took jobs "up north" that the first thing they would have to do is to learn to tell the difference between a jackpine savage and a woods hippie. I pointed out that the problem was complicated by the fact that the two strains had hybridized, and the proper term for a hybrid specimen was "Hippy Comitatus."

People from outside the north woods would always look rather strangely at me, not entirely getting what I meant, but people with their north-woods roots would always pick up immediately.

12. Nope.
For some reason Newt and Fox News' Glen Beck's calling for the president's assassination haven't made a break in the MSM. I wonder why?

13. If Newt had a ghost of a chance
of getting even Tim Pawlenty numbers, we'd hear more about it. It's all over for him except the crying.

18. Which one? There are so many
If Newt had sent a picture of his dick to a woman, the press might be all over it,

Newt only laundered between $250,000 and $1 million through his charity. No one cares about that.

19. I don't think it matters: the Great White Whale is beached and no longer afloat
Try this on for size:

Newt's a divider, not a uniter: much of our modern partisan ugliness can be traced to Newt's divisive strategies in the mid-90s. And he's not only unpleasant politically -- he's unpleasant in person too: wehat sort of person asks his wife for a divorce while she's hospitalized for cancer treatment?

Nobody's gonna vote for Newt
