I propose that we refer to our fellow Americans on the other side of the aisle as members of the...

Re-ALEC-an Party

4. I'm canadian please explain why this is such an issue?
I don't get why someone saying "Democrat Party" is that bad, sure it's wrong but bad?

I don't see it used as something to put down the Democratic Party as much as I do totally stupid people with no clue.

Why is this such an issue? Up here no one would care.

7. It's Just the Way The ENTIRE MSM Seems to Have Been Ordered to Call Us the "Democrat Party"
They call the Republicans by their proper name, and with great reverence,
but at some point, everyone on the Tee Vee started calling the
Democratic Party the "Democrat Party", all at once, as though
they had gotten orders to that effect from somewhere.

10. Thanks:)
I don't watch much American news so I wouldn't have noticed something like that, I know our news typically refers to it properly when talking about US stuff.

Thanks for the answer, it makes more sense now seeing as I didn't know that.

13. It's that Republicans have started using this misnomer as an insult.
It's a way (subtly, or so they think) of showing their disrespect. You can tell a lot about someone when they say that. x(

Welcome to DU! :hi:

9. Too complex a concept.
Although I'm leaning toward Koch-in-a-can Party. (Which sounds a little too much like something fun besides making no sense.) I need a simple grab name.

11. I Don't Get It
I guess that puts me in the 99.9%.

I disagree that this renaming of the party happened over night. I watched it closely and it required an organized and purposeful effort on the part of the crown prince of the GOPeople. Once El-Rushbo decided that the renaming should happen all, the conservative sheep followed suit right away. I still don't know why real journalist are doing it now...I heard it coming from Howard Fineman the other day...Howard Fineman?

I say leave the petulant name-calling to the right-wing and let that road to the left be the high one.

And if the shitheads are offended by that, what can you do? It's the truth.

18. The Publican Party.
It makes sense on so many levels, and has a deliciously biblical double entendre.

I have read that "the democrat party" was popular during the McCarthy error.

19. How about "Republican Party"?
Leave the intentional misstatement of party names to the obtuse shitheads.

When someone uses the term "Democrat Party" for the first time correct them. For further instances point out that they're being an obtuse shithead.

The idea is to end this sort of childish bullshit, not to exacerbate it.
